Thumbs up IF200 B747-121 B7470 "rollout" 2nd version

Hi guys:

This wonderful model landed yesterday, I was lucky enough to get this old IF200 released B747. I am not a big fan of house colors liveries or classic releases like this one. As I am a B747 lover and after watching recently the shape of the real aircraft I said: "why not?".

wu6fiend's B747-100 vs reality

All I can say is WOW!!! I am loving this model so much. I have some doubts about it, because I verified the database and IF200 did 2 editions of these B747's. Really? I knew IF200 does only one run for it's models. Was this an exception? In fact there are 2 runs for the rollout livery and first flight. What are the difference between each version? I tried to find here on DA.C info about this model but I could find were mentions.

Ok, I would like to read forward about these old releases. Honestly I know few things about them mainly because at that year, 2007, I was starting into this hobby and they were practically unknown by me until the last year.

Thanks for your time and hope you like the pictures I made, the first ones were taken from internet and from the Museum of Flight website. After getting this now I am tempted to buy the first flight release.

Greetings!!!

Nice one. I recently wanted to snap that one up at a very reasonable price but someone was faster.

i believe the only reason they did a second run was because boeing asked for them. first run was 300 of each roll-out and everett (no badges) . second run was just over 700 of each. have seen these sell on ebay for as little as £31!! $50!! although first runs usually are higher.

Awesome photos!!! I still want one of these models so much. What is the difference, if any, between the original and re-release?

Great addition.... I was able to see the actual plane last month in Seattle at the Museum of Flight. (She is really showing her age)

I have this model too and am very happy with it. Thanks for sharing.

I had both models in my possession earlier this summer. The difference is that underneath the fuselsage, the 2nd version has the letter 'a' printed on the model. Cheers! T7

Thanks, fellas for the clarification! I think I should add this model to my want list! Especially as I've seen this beautiful plane in person.

It is one of the most beautiful and meaningful releases by IF.
If you love the aircraft, and you love this mould ( fine details like clear plastic landing "lights" on the wings, beautifully detailed and sturdier landing gears, proper rubber tires) then the roll out colour scheme is a must!
I bought two at the time, one still in the box, the other one has been on display ever since.
Welcome to the 747 roll out colour scheme fan club!

Nice pictures and additions, I have this model too and very happy with it. Just wondering if anyone know who is the airline logo behind SABENA at the very end?

Hi fellows:

I am glad you like the pictures. I fell in love with the model, honestly I wasn't expecting to much attraction but I guess the B747 legacy and what it means made me admire even more this beauty. As I told you first, I love the B747 but I am not a big fan of company liveries, when I saw at wu6fiend's photos I decided to get this model. It 's a shame the real aircraft is exposed out door getting rusted due environment.

About the releases, many thanks for the explanation to T7 and robertjon. So, the responsible for the re-runs was Boeing itself, I am surprised that IF200 have made a 2nd run for the 2 versions. So that means only and just only an airline or the aircraft manufacturer ask to them to remake a certain model, IF200 could accept to do such thing. Is this correct? (what if KLM.....???)

This model comes in two versions, one with airline logos, and one without.

Three of the version without the airline logos are currently on Ebay from $135 -$266.

When I was at the Museum of Flight last year, they had one left, with the airline logos, for about $200 (which is what I paid, if I recall correctly).

Anyone wanting the airline logo version of this model, if you contact the Museum, they might still have that model for sale (it was in the display cabinet, just inside the entrance).

Interesting to see how many of the first 747-customers don't exist anymore... Pan Am, TWA, Braniff, Eastern, National... mostly US-airlines. And most of the remaining airlines have changed their logos ever since the prototype was first rolled out. Well, most of them - except for Lufthansa... (OK, Qantas is still there - and KLM still looks familiar... )

This is what i thought were the differences between both sets of releases. I just bought the 40yrs w/ logos last month to pair w/ my roll out w/ logos since i prefer
them w/ than w/o the logos. I bought these because of their historical significance...ok, i bought becaue why not. My favorite house color is actually the orange sunrise & the least favorite is the one in the thread becuase of the red cheatline (i think that's what the red line is called)

In the DB it is misleading as i remember one of them not being correctly listed w/ the correct model number, but i couldn't verify it it until i saw it on the box of the one I bought

they can still be bought for 168 new + shipping & not the $240 + shipping listed on eBay
