The only ones I know of are some ANA models produced specifically for the Japanese market. No idea where to get them, though.

In my recollection this is 1:400 scale model, not 1:200.

The ANA models that you mentioned are in fact 1/400 and made by Hogan. There is some Japanese company that makes flaps, but they're only for Japanese turboprops. I think their name is ANA Trading Co., though I can't be sure.

I'm waiting for someone brave and skilled enough to cut up their expensive 1/200 diecast model and create an accurate landing diorama.

Would be hard to cut through metal..... With precision and by hand!

Manufacturers should consider doing flaps down models like hogan did with their 1/400 stuff for ANA.

Yes, but with a Dremel drill set I can do anything! Except I don't have the skill or courage to try.

Martin Beacom as produced this 200 scale connie. These are not just glued on, he has ground out the recess underneath which makes it look as though the extended flaps would just pop straight back in.

I recently received the ANA 747-400. The addition of flaps and slats takes 1/400 to a whole new level. It also comes with a nice big slice of runway with piano keys, BUT the stand does not hold the model up. DO NOT trust this the frosted little plastic arm. It will NOT work and you model will fall from it. Very disappointed considering the amount of plastic and engineering that went into this three piece release. The best part though is the model itself. I'm not an ANA guy, but this level of detail is great and would like to see an L-1011 next. By the wait, price was 89.00 ex Hong Kong. Shipping was included. I did post pics of this elsewhere and didn't receive any replies, I guess nobody purchased it. How about this forum? Anyone have it? Comments. Thanks~

I was able to purchase several of these ANA flaps down models on line from someone in Japan. He would send the right models, but the runways were never matched up correctly. He claimed that these were just samples that he was selling and just to live with whatever he sent me. I paid 75.00 USD (including shipping) for each of the ANA B747's (Mohican -200, Triton -200 & Triton -400). I have not tried the stand option for more than a a minute or two as I swithced them out just to verify that it worked. He had one of the POKEMON -300's, but I passed.

Had thought about donating an IF747 to Brad and have him do his magic on it...replace the wings with plastic if needed be. Think he would do a great job with it.

There's also Hogan/Herpa 747-8's ripe for the picking....plastic, so easier to dissect.

and I have 2 of the NCA B742Fs all with flaps down.

Props for making an effort and posting~! Look forward to see how you up the flap game in 1/400. Have you tried any 1/200's? As I mentioned, there's plenty of plastic out there to bash in this scale!

Thanks Herb,
Haven't had a go at any 200sc yet, only this one so far. It's quite easy with the DW plastic wings and a razor saw. The rest is using evergreen sheet and patience.

How did you manage to cut it out since it's diecast? What kind of cutting tools do you use?

Using small files. very carefully. The flaps are plastic. The issue with such a small model like the one in the picture is installing spoilers, which I did not do...

To do this on a 1/200 model, it would be necessary to file out the spaces occupied by the flap system as well as the spoilers. The tricky part would be that not all the spoilers are lined up with the flaps, so there are sections of the trailing edge of the wing where the flaps are tucked underneath ... Notice the open area between the spoiler and flaps. Pylons would have to be filed off, re-made and positioned downward. I'd love to try to make this out of metal, but shaping will be really difficult. Good ol polystyrene will do the trick.
