HELP Need Paint Suggestions

I have a couple of Hasegawa kits that I need to paint. I have an airbrush but don't know what paints to use. I have or can get decals. I have a 777-300ER that I'd like to paint for Air Canada (I have decals for the special 2010 olympics paint), a MD-11 that I'd like to paint in the current KLM Royal Dutch Airlines livery, a 727 that I would like in Eastern Airlines livery, and a 737-800 wick I'd like paint into WestJet livery. All are 1/200 except the 737-800 which is a Revell 1/144 kit. Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would go and buy a couple of spray cans from you local hardware store. The instructions will list specific paints. You do not need to buy all of them just buy the ones that make up the majority of the plane as well as white, grey, silver, black and a finisher to keep the decals nice.

Im guessing you need help for which colours to choose to use for your airbrush, maybe you could post it in the customs forums or send a pm to the masters(eg Bill-ay or stang21181) regarding the colours. All the best! :D

I suggest you buy yourself a quality airbrush (double action will guarantee it is not a cheap spray gun) along with a book on modeling. This will show you how to work with airbrush. Forget about spray can because it is too messy and you will have runs and drips all over. With paints, only use acrylic because it is water clean up and not smelly. DP

I'm wonedring what colors to use, not really how to do it. I also model trains and know how to find the correct paints for that but I'm relatively new to the MODEL aircraft community, so I am unfamiliar with the paint colors.

Acryllics by revell and humbrol I find are very good for aircraft painting, I always judge which colour to use by eye. Take the box art, a photo or a print out to your local hobby store and match it with the acryllics. Bare in mind, revell need ALOT of shaking up and a little water to show their true colour, the colours on top are not accurate.

Your instruction sheet should have the paint color suggestion. If not google "airplane decals" and you can see what they suggest in their vast data base. DP
