I guess Gemini's theme this time around is bug eyed cockpit windows and sharp noses!

Cockpit window is a bit oversized (it and the Star Alliance logo should be in line with the same height)
Secondly the front satelite dome is missing while the rear one is added.

There should also be no silver printing between the cockpit windows.

There should be some, just was done a bit too dark.

Ah I think those are what make the windows look so big. they seem to be the same size as the Gemini A330 windows, just got the dark silver around them compared to light or nothing on the 330 which to me looks fairly correct.

Agreed! It should be changed on the next A340...hopefully.

I'll pass, still happy with my Herpa. Less details than this but more accurate mold.

It's rare that GJ prints a cockpit too low, but this time they did. However, if they attempt to raise it for future releases, they'll probably way over-do it, and it'll be worse than if they left it alone.

It needs to be just a little bit higher---A LITTLE BIT, GJ.

Favor to ask from Gemini 200 = please do your best to fix the identified flaws above, prior to releasing the Air Canada A340-300; it would be most appreciated. Thank you, jetboy787 for sharing your photos on the DAC; like the different angles you took. Cheers! T7

Aren't the latest Gemini 1/200's all manufactured by JC Wings? The nose, the windows and the landing gear all scream JC Wings to me, so by definition I would never drop a cent on this model (despite being a huge LH fan).

Hi jetboy787, can you please answer the above post from dietcoke777. I am also getting the impression that there is a factory that is producing the same A340-300 mould for both JC and G200. Only difference between them would be after add-ons. Just like the A380 mould = G200 (removable landing gear) JC (fixed landing gear).

Your response would be most appreciated. Cheers! T7

I might be mistaken, of course, but as far as I recall we had his info several years back already.

There's only a handful of factories producing die-cast models, so it is up normal - and common knowledge, I assume(d) - that all our beloved models are being made over there... disregarding the brand name on the belly. The manufacturers (i.e. brands, not the factories) seem to be unable to have their moulds for exclusive use, so that so-called 'mould sharing' simply means the factories are making their own profit with own releases. Plus, there seems to be another (real) kind of mould sharing between certain brands, such as Inflight and Gemini (e.g. 747, 777).

The A340 is definitely made by the JC Wings factory, albeit the mould might be invented on behalf of or ordered by Gemini. As many of you already noticed, there are little differences when you compare a rather cheap JC release to a GJ model - so it's all about the little details such as antennae, printing details and so on.

Just for comparison, a few shots of the old Herpa DLH A 340-300, a model now discontinued.

Hi dietcoke777, looks like our senior DAC member (been with DAC since 2005) Madridista has answered your inquiry. I also confirmed (spoke to my local aviation store) that the A330 and A340 moulds are being shared between JC and G200. Cheers! T7

Thank you, Madridista for the reply. Most appreciated and it has enlightened dietcoke777. You may have to be more specific in the future when you refer to JC releases being cheap; I for one will use the JC wings A380s as an example ( House - Love at First Flight, China Southern and Malaysia ), I don't own any of them, but from what I've seen on the DAC from other proud collectors/owners = all 3 A380s look superb! Cheers! T7

Is it released already or is it not?
Some sources have it on sale as a "pre-order", others have it as "1 remaining".
To buy the remaining ones or no rush necessary??

It is released, got mine here on the table. Very nice model, no problem at all with cockpit or engines to me. Engines got thrust reverser flaps also printed, but lighter grey as the engines. So it´s almost not visible, and not visible on pics posted here.

Why would they do that with LH usually being pretty sought after?

The release is out however most retailers should be completely sold-out by now.

Production numbers were not cut, the model was just in very high demand and sold-out on pre-orders alone.

Be careful with Herpa.

Check their site, many models are discontinued.

Despite the fact that I preordered one of their very successful models (the Air Nostrum F 50), I never managed to get it.

Aviation Center Berlin should have a big stock of the DLH A 340.

I'm not saying it won't or can't happen but remember these EK releases and re-releases are mainly to fulfill EK corporate orders.

cockpit windows look fine and the model is very appealing. Metal is the best and it rules, the plastic Herpa is going back to its box

Your comparison is interesting, I also have the Herpa plastic produced long time ago, D-AIGH, Koblenz, I think it is the same.

I'm waiting for the Air France version to make a decision.

Thank you for your pictures and your comments.

Hi, I stopped buying A330-A340 for awhile due to the pointy nose, but it seems alright for your LH A340, can I know where you bought this from?

Try telling that to the factory manager in China.

Consider yourself (sorta) lucky getting one of these. They are sold out at the wholesale level in the U.S., and quite likely at the retail level as well.

It looks fine to me. GJ's first LH release in 200th scale. Can't wait for mine to arrive.

Have it on order too and am waiting for it to arrive at the retailer (and eventually here). Guess we in Europe have to wait a little longer.

I got mine a few days ago and was amazed by the detail of this model. I definitely hope that Gemini will do some more Lufthansa models.

Lufthansa A320 at least.
An A320 in its "native" livery.

Cheers! T7
Actually, T7_4ever, that "cheap" was pointed at the comparably cheap retail price - and not to quality.

As long as the nose isn't pointed to the extreme the first pictures showed. Might be worth an in person look/see.
