Some of you noticed I had been searching for an AV200 VA 744 for a while. I finally found a guy on 400scalehangar.net who was selling. Yay! But it was already reserved when I found the listing. Nay!
I was incredibly lucky. The guy who had reserved the model didn't take it. So the seller said I could have it. But the next disappointment loomed. Canadian postage would be somewhere around CAD 120. Whoa!
I would have paid eventually, but the seller was just amazing. He told me he could ship from the US instead in a few weeks, where shipping would be half the price. As I was about to go on vacation anyway I was perfectly fine with that arrangement.
Yesterday, days after returning from vacation, I got a big parcel from the US. Sweet, eh?:
I took the photos next to a SIA 747 "last pax flight" which I received by mistake. I had ordered the 50th anniversary bird. The seller (I know and trust him) offered to pay return shipping and send me the right model free of charge. Fair arrangement. However, I am now contemplating to ask him if he'd give me a discount instead and I keep the bird. I always found the standard SIA livery dull, but seeing it like this started to change my mind.
....I like the looks of that Virgin 747.....I am hunting one of these as it will look nice next to its cousin (same livery) A346 that I have ......thank you for the pictures nurunet........

It's been a pleasure, jsjscd9a. The A346 is the SkyMarks one?
I think a VA 747 popped up on eBay UK. Was thinking of bidding on it too just because it's so beautiful... :-)
...no, its the Aero Le Plane A346 Surfer Girl 2007 livery (same livery as your 747)...
...I also have the Skymarks VA (2010 colours) trio in high detail of the A333, A346 and the B744 ......will be posting 1:200 VA fleet downtrack .......all 3 liveries.....
Thank you for sharing these photos!
I just love die-cast 747s on the 200 scale, and your two models are just amazing examples!
Your enthusiasm for the hobby really shines through. I think you now have quite a few of us wanting to get one of these - myself included : )
Canada has to be the most expensive country in the world to post from so glad this worked out for you too !
All the credit goes to DiscoDave2003 at 400scalehangar for his friendliness, creativity and helpfulness. He didn't go the extra mile, he went lots of extra miles - all the way to Washington State. :-)
