Exclamation Sad Day, Collection up for sale!

yes guys, you read correct!! hav decided to put my collection up for sale. won't go into detail, but family come first!! will be keeping a few, but basically any model is available if price is right. not desperate to sell, but will be selling up to 100 models out of 120 or so!! i have managed to list my boac, landor, and b/cal fleets on DIMA. but not had time to list my ana and 35+ klm collections. but you guys mostly know what models i have!! have also put 26 models on ebay atm ending sunday night. so if any of you want to put an offer in on ANY of my models PLEASE E-MAIL ME @ [email protected] with name and forum handle!! just a note my herpa premium klm 747 is also up for grabs, but does not hav original box. just model, stand and certificate 0251. so i am going to pick up a cheap herpa 747 off ebay, and put model in that box if someone buys it, to protect it. also note models like IF klm, landor 747s etc will not be sold cheap!!

http://www.diecastmodelaircraft.com/...ion/robertjon5

my ebay link. you can also put offer in on any of these. have put my rare skylne boac comet and 707 on there.

Very soon most of mine will be up too.....Can't believe we have to do these things sometimes.

Robert, yours was the most jaw dropping collection on display!!! I know there are lots of collectors here that just have most in their original boxes. Sad to see that collection going soon

Good luck my friend!!!!!!
got NO real problems andrew. my father died new years day, and mother almost joined him 5 days later!! the company i am agent for is downsizing my works unit by 50%. so i will have hardly any room to display my models. so is no point having thousands of pounds worth of models just sitting in boxes!! this has always been just a hobby for me. i am not 'attached' to my models like some. yes, i will be sad to see some go. but if anything happened to me, (i am 55 now) my wife would not have a clue what they would be worth. plus it our 30th wedding anniversary this year, so would like to take wife away, and put rest towards taking kids to euro disney or similar. i will still be around, and will still keep a few models, and will still buy the odd one two. just time to put family first!!

Sad to read all this Robert.
Hope all will work out ok for you and your family.

One side note, maybe you should review your costs for shipping on the ANA "Snoopy" as shipping a model for 12.195,00 GBP won't speed up sales...

That sounds like a great plan for you and your family! Awesome and a big thumbs up you will be celebrating 30 years of marriage. I am sure your kids will love and appreciate going to the amusement park, I am planning to take my 2 kids to Disney this year (my 3 year old daughter has been telling me she wants to visit Mickey and his friends!); however, my son is still too young (which means another Disney trip 3 years from now!). Again, all the best going forward! Cheers! T7

Sorry Robert you are selling your models. Obviously family is before everything. I lost my Mother 2 days after Christmas in 2008,so I can relate to what that is like. As you clearly stated,it is just a hobby. Model airplanes are far down the priority list, compared to your families well being. I do hope you continue to post, but will miss your: "look what I got at ARD today" photos.

Space and money, the two big challenges for our 1:200 hobby . Sad news indeed. I always enjoy your posts Robert and your comments have helped me to make the right choices when building my own collection. Hope you'll earn as much as Topsox for 3 of your concordes, should solve at least the money issue.

It is sad to see a collection get broken up..Robert maybe you came on too fast and too furious amassing quite a bit in a short time... Not quantity necessarily but size and price of the pieces..I see another collector new here on DAC down under on a massive buying blitz and I wonder too when reality will set in and say what the heck am I doing???

I built my collection up over 30 years and just in the last 2 years have sold over half of it off including almost every sample and one off here on DAC and ebay..Its almost down to the final 500 that I am going to keep with about 500 more to go! Good luck..you will be back..

Hi Robert

Very sorry to read this after your enthusiastic collecting. I know you are mainly a 1/200 collector, but if you can compile lists of all scales you have, it would help you a lot (and me!)

It's sad to hear you are departing models that you had ever chased for over past few years. However I admire your motive to sell them. I believe everybody here still hopes to see you around in the forum and share your opinion to us.

Same thoughts here - although might be different with RJ5, which is beyond my knowledge.

I started out collecting at the age of 8 years (1/600 at that time, with 1/180 thru 1/250 added very soon, extended to 1/100 and similar scales not too much later), so this year actually is the 30th anniversary of airplane scale model collecting for me. Things changed from time to time, of course... originally, I literally collected every model in a scale (1/600), then I decided to concentrate on what I was interested in most; then scales altered, and so on - but collecting has always been part of my aviation hobby.

Good luck with your sales, Robert. I will be selling a little over half of my collection (mainly non-U.S. carriers) in a couple weeks. End of a relationship forces me to move to a city where I can find a job. Gotta raise money for moving expenses for when the time comes.

Robert:

Oh well, this is the kind of threads you don't want to read. First of all, I am really sorry for what you experienced the new year's week, that was pretty though. Your fathers and now in a better place, resting in peace for sure.

Is there anyway I can help, I could buy something from your collection. I missed once the chance to buy Herpa B747-8F house colors to you, remember that? I will take a look to your collection roster and ask for some models. Perhaps we can get some deals this time.

Cheer up and my best wishes for you and your family.

Good Luck Robert! Hope that you visit us on the forums every now and again. As was said several times above - you have been an inspiration and a friend to many on here.

For the rest of you reading -- not so long ago - Robert and I were both looking for the same model to round out our collections. He found one - but it was a little pricey for him. He was kind enough to let me know just in case I could afford it. On other occasions, he has sold to me, shipped for me, or just offered advice (and correction!). A great example to us all.

Robert, this is first easter for many years we still have snow. It is still SNOWING today, not usual spring.. De icing is obligatory.. ATP - quite tough plane, although many refers to it as "Advanced Technical Problems"; but some operators were pleased with it - me as well

i too cannot remember BRITISH SUMMER TIME which starts in just over 27 hours, starting in temperatures BELOW freezing!! they also say its going to be the coldest easter on record. in fact u.k government have said if temps. get above freezing at any time from now on, it will be classed as a...........HEATWAVE
