It kind of make sense. The shuttle is made of mahogany wood. The cradle on top of the 747 is plastic that holds the shuttle in position. It most likely would fail over the years if it had a diecast shuttle on top.

Another major complaint at the time was shuttle is placed TOO FAR BACK on fuselage. tip of nose should be over middle of 747 hump. not right by the back. but box art shows correct!


as said by someone else would love a silver polished one like the 1/400 dragon wings model.

I bought one of these several years back for $30 because the shuttle tail had been broken. Fixed it, stripped it, repainted it and then made custom decals myself based on high resolution decal and shuttle photos posted online. The entire underside is decal tiled too. Did nothing to the 747.

Did not keep it. When I finished it I gave it to my dad.

i might have to ask our ukraine model maker friend to make one (with the mistakes corrected) if i cant find one of these....lol...

They are out there, I picked one up off the bay about 2 years ago and keep seeing them pop up from time to time.

You have the ebay link for that auction? i can't seem to find it ;(

Mine from airhub has just arrived in the States in NJ port. hopefully will be in FL in a few weeks.

The one sold on ebay on that link is very pricey at over $400 compared to the one from airhub. Is it any better?

No I am afraid not. I give ebay a couple scans during the day using various saved searched for planes I am looking for, and lots of others show up in the feeds, that is where I saw this, but it may have sold?

As for the Soviet Mirya and Buran, I bought directly from the seller who is in Germany, and paid a lot less than the eBay price. Seems to be a nice model to my eyes.
