Default 707-121 DC-8-11 CV-880 CV-990 Comet

I would encourage anyone interested in classic jets to start hounding these manufacturers. Classic jets changed forever the way we travel yet not one has been done in 1:200 (Skyline Models don't count). I mean how many different 777 liveries does one need? Contemporary twin jets have been done to death and are becoming a bit tired.

I'd like to see the original 707-121 first, with two separate wings joined to the fuselage rather than the unsightly one-piece arrangement.

Boeing 707-121 short vertical stabilizer and turbojets with sound suppressors
Douglas DC-8 Series 10 20 or 30 with turbojets and sound suppressors
Convair 880 turbojets and suppressors
Convair 990 rear-fan fanjets
de Havilland Comet (we all want a "1" but a "4" would also be of interest)

Excellent topic. You have my support. And add Boeing 720!
And also do not count the Small Worlds (Comet): very expensive.

Also waiting - anxiously - for any of these.

I think we all need a Comet in our fleet of 1:200 models! As far as i know, only several were made in the 90s, and they only come up for sale on eBay once and a while, usually selling in the $300 range! Manufacturers like Gemini Jets, Inflight, even Hogan or Herpa would all make a fortune putting the Comet or any of the others you mentioned into production in 1:200. I would really like to see the Convair put into 1:200 also. Damn...

Thank you Scott for this poll.
I am ready to buy all this gems when available, any livery.
The Convair Coronado would be a good start.

Seroius manufacturer required.

Absolutely support the release of all of these early classics. How can any collection be complete without them in all their respective liveries ? Of course I am also promoting some addtional "old folks" in the C-46 and the Martin twins. Think they more than deserve a place in the 1/200 world along with the classic jets.

Well, I like the Convairs best - both of them.

I remember the derelict Comet one would see off to the north when driving into O'Hare in the '70s. That ugly beast was the sole influence of my interest in the type, so my old Dinky is good enough. I am sure it was eventually broken up there at O'Hare; anyone here know the story?

Not only are those four engined American jetliners the types in which I am most interested, they also displayed creative, distinctive color schemes that are so much more memorable than yet another eurowhite Airbus.

My first choice for the Comet 1's as well. Let's hope whoever does the CPA one remembers that the cheatlines have bare metal between them! Polished, please, Herpa!

I've been of this opinion for some years now. After ten years or so of collecting, I've become bored with this hobby because of the exact situation you describe. And you are right in saying that Skyline definitely doesn't count, none of that sh*te will ever cross my threshold again.

Hello: For those of us 50 and over, any of these would be greatly appreciated.
(And of course, for any age, too! )
Yes, I do get tired (just me--don't shoot me!) of all the all the "Eurowhite" liveries on the new airframes.
Please, give us these:

Well, for the record, I love Eurowhite liveries . . . especially Air France. But I also have a very soft spot for the cool jets of my earlier years, and these two top the cake for me. BEST looking United and Pan American liveries, IMPO. Love those exhaust pipes!!!!!!

It's gotta be a CV-990 with those groovy wing shock bodies and the wild aft-fan engines. That design was on fire! What a hot rod!

So far the 990 has the most votes. I have the GJ400 AA 990 in the hard-to-find chrome finish, but a 1/200 would be amazing. A 707-121 and a Comet mould would also be welcomed, Pan Am and BOAC, respectively. And how about an AA 707-121 in the delivery colors?

What? Give me three Delta 880's in the three different schemes (with three different registration numbers, of course) along with two Northeast 880's, one in the red-white-blue scheme and another in the "Yellowbird" scheme (with two different registration numbers, of course) and throw in a few TWA 880's and I'll buy them all! I would love to see a Comet 1 with South African Airways titles on it.

In fact it was a South African Airways Flight 201 G-ALYY which crashed which was the final death for the Comet 1.

Just read on another site that a Convair 990 was probably in the works but the economic slowdown put a hold on it. I suspected as much. Activity on the forums as well as retail activity seems to have slowed considerably. In all fairness I couldn't expect a bunch of new stuff be offered if business is in fact slow but it's still good that we indicated interest.

You can put me down for a Convair 990 in Ciskei International Airways colours.

I found the 1:400 one by pure luck. Right place. Right Time.
http://www.diecastaircraftforum.com/...iew-19087.html

I was never fortunate enough to see one fly, but what I read about them in Take Off magazine 'last century' impressed me very much. A 1:200 will fit in nicely with my Southern African collection.

A CV-880 or 990 would be a great addition. I wouldn't mind a Comet 1 either.

I've been looking at the Sky Classics Comet 4, for a number of months now. I just can't bring myself to order one. The nose looks like it has been somewhat rounded off to me. I think Martin can really do the Comet (1 and 4) justice. From what I see here, many of us really want a good Comet in 1:200, not to mention the others listed above, and I would like to add the Trident to that list. Hopefully Martin is thinking about that one as well.

I know some people have other things on their list like the Туполев-104 and Trident. I just had to draw the line somewhere, plus my personal preference is one of the 4-engined turbojets done first.

Also, it was pointed out to me that the DC-8 Series 40 is almost identical externally to earlier versions so let's add the 40 to the DC-8 description. That enables even more great liveries like Alitalia and Trans Canada!

Yes to all that! I'm pinning my hopes on Mr Beacom pulling the rabbit out of the hat for us.

I quite agree. I am of the opinion that Martin should make everything but that's not realistic. All of the polled would be superb, genuinely interesting releases, as forlorn a hope as it may seem. The American triumvirate and our own DH would with contemporary production, mass or specialist be exciting for the collector that wants to represent the history of civil aviation.

Why cann't we group all people intersted in a specific model ( 707-121, D C 8 , Comets , C V 990 etc ...) and ask Mr Martin Beacom to evaluate a quotation .

.
This was just about my favorite model jetliner in 1:400 with the original Delta 880 running a close second.
If it were done with care and quality in 1:200 one could only imagine the lively sales that would follow.

Gee, that Alaska 880 looks like a jet. J - E - T. Jet.

When the noun "jet" was something new in an airliner, when it was special to travel on a "jet" instead of a "prop", this stunning image demonstrates why passengers were excited in anticipation of flying on a "jet".

Make a model of this jet in 1:200.

I flew on that Alaska CV880 from Anchorage to SEA/TAC and it was indeed a grand memory. A good 1/200 model would certainly enrich it !!!
