great looking and well detailed 787 diecast... unfortunately the biggest mistake is the engine in-take part! IT SHOULD BE THICKER!!! hopefully they'll re-tool the engines in the near future...

I dont even thing they would need retool the engine just the lip piece right? I had though about picking up a JC 787 while on sale and trying to milliput the lip to the proper size but got too lazy.

the engines, although noticable, would not bother all that much, what i don't like are the wings.... they have the correct planform shape.... but they have the wrong cross-sectional shape (i.e. they are way too thin/wrong shape at the root)

Due to the lack of a thicker engines intake, I am staying away from all the JCW and IF200 787 releases unless that is taken care of. So all the 787s that I have got so far are RS, Lysia and PH, albeit the earlier 2 come with flexed wings, but I aint complaining... Just a quick pic of the UA 787 in discussion above made by Lysia that I got sometime back...

Gotta love this! Succinct, to-the-point and easy for them to understand. If everyone got on here and made
a similar announcement and then followed through by staying away from the JCW and IF releases, then maybe
they'd be motivated to get their sh|t together.

The intake is a major feature of these engines and the sloppy lack of accuracy has ruined the look of this model.

Since the model makers didn't care enough to get it right maybe they don't deserve to sell any of their models.
People need to stop rewarding minimal effort and poor quality.
There you get my point!! Thanks for the support...

The engine lips? Cant be serious.

Whats the actual lip thickness, and then the actual difference on the model? 1.5mm?

I dont care, I have 3 nice 787's from PHX/JC and I love everyone of them.

Really!?

The whole point of the Trent engine is that it has such an oversize and ridiculous looking lip. To miss this massive and clear distinguishing feature from a model is absolutely in-excusable.

At least the aircraft's wings actually DO flex, so people complaining about wing shapes are well off the mark, since the engines intakes don't shrink when it's on the ground, IF need to sort this out..

I have to agree. I'm no fan of the IF/JCW version either, and largely for the lack of accuracy on the intake. It IS a very prominent feature that simply got fobbed off. My preference will still be for the Phoenix versions, even though they didn't get the intake quite right either (and missed with a couple of aerial placements). All stuff I can live with.

A burst of outrage in this thread. Seems, proportionality is not given anymore among collectors.

If the engine intake is the only problem worth mentioning here, the model seems to be pretty good. Considering a buy...

This is why its so disappointing, because essentially it is a nice model, but ruined by a stupid mistake.

Unfortunately the intake is a highly visible feature and it's one of the things that sets the 787 apart from other
airliners. I can get over smaller less-obvious glitches but this one is pretty major. And it's an amazing glitch, like
the model designer glanced at some photos a couple times then did it from memory. Is that how details get
overlooked? Or is it just apathy? No need to worry about details because they'll buy it anyway? Yes it's the same
old tired complaint and the situation will probably never change but I shudder to think about what quality standards
would be like had we never complained about anything.

A brand new JC Wings release list was just made available from the U.S. supplier of JC Wings to their retailers.

This UAL 787 was NOT on the list.

I've been out of the loop for a while... is that JC Wings UA 787 available yet? It's a good looking model despite the too thin bare-metal portion of the inlets. Gotta admit, the 787 is growing on me and I think it's finally time to purchase a model of one.

For anyone looking for this model, there are a few on ebay. I just bought mine for $60 plus $20 for shipping. I should get it on Monday according to the post office. I can do a review of the model (when it arrives) if anyone is interested in buying this and would like more details about it.

So let me get this right. You would rather the Lysia model over the JC version because the engine intakes are not the right size. Yet, the lack of detail in the Lysia model doesn't bother you? The Lysia model has 10% of the detail the JC model has and if the Engine intakes are too small then that's the least of my problems.
Guys, we've been through these issues in so many threads before with regards to lack of detail. Until, the manufacturers listen to the buyers, then we're going to argue against ourselves, and yet continue to buy their products.
Like I've said in the past, "each to his own" and "they're are horses for courses".

My United 787 just landed this week - thanks Eddie!

I'm attaching pictures for your enjoyment, or scrutiny. I personally like hearing the scrutiny, because hopefully it drives companies to do a better job.

The finish is great, the wing and stabilizer joins to the fuselage are very tight. This is a sweet detailed version IMO.

The harsh flash shows paint grains not seen under normal lighting...

I'm always amazed at how tiny they can print these fonts! (I can't even read these w/o a magnifier)

Hey Gemini, how about fixing those 777 pylons to something resembling this!?

A couple of shots next to its Airbus competitor...

You're right, models can't be perfect but they have to be at least close to perfect. With these thin engine intakes and wrong cockpit windows this model isn't even close to perfect. This is just my opinion because I think the thick intakes are a distinctive feature on the 787 and should be done correctly by manufacturers. The overall look of the model is very good though..

Yeah, I gather that they are available in Asia. I'd rather avoid ordering from overseas though if a retailer in the U.S. has or is going to have it. If not, guess overseas is my only option!

Makis, not sure at which aircraft your talking about, but, apart from the engine intakes being "thin", the windows look pretty good to me.

I see that our American collectors are finding hard to purchase due to stock. Funny that, every second person says they wouldn't purchase it yet no supply People, for every one person who doesn't like it, there's another 5 that do. Lets not forget the 787 is unique not because of the engines or the cockpit windows, it was the revolutionary materials used to build it and the shape of the cockpit, wings tail section. The JC model looks pretty good to me. So did the real version as you can see from the photos whilst visiting Darwin. Love it!

Does anybody know who owns this mould? I really love how tight the wing and stabilizers fit to the fuselage on this model.

Eddie, the Second copy of this model I ordered through you came in perfect. My friend at work is going to love it. Thank you again! I did get scared when I saw the condition of the exterior cardboard shipping box as it looked banged up, but the extra bubblewrap you put around the box of the model inside kept everything in great shape!

Hi norhtwah, I think it's just the lighting. Some dull sunlight is shining on my model right now as I type this, and I can't really see a difference between the engine color and the fuselage color.

(correction, it does have a slight detectable difference depending on the lighting)

For all you guys upset about the incorrect engine inlet, why not paint it yourself? That would be an easy mod. That model looks wayyyyy to good to pass up all because the inlet lip isn't big enough. Get the silver paint out and fix it. It would take 10 minutes to do.

It looks great! I can forgive that engine lip. Nothing a silver Sharpie marker couldn't fix... And for $60, that sounds even better!

The U.S. supplier of JC Wings also has a very lucrative contract with United.

My $100 says that the JC United 787 is unlicensed, hence, we won't be seeing that model here via the usual distribution channel.
