Just one question, Crownvic:

Is this going to be a regular release by one of the 1/200 manufacturers or is it part of a "20 models custom-fit package" of yours?!

OK, seems to be kind of a "prototype model", but anyway, I would love to see the Sands Corporation's VIP L-1011 released in 1/200 soon.

I'd buy all the Sands Casino fleet -its just such a beautiful livery, and a great excuse for some SP action. That Tristar is STUNNING. I'd reckon their 757 and 767 would be beauties as well. Would be awesome if GJ would make them - I'd buy the lot, thats for sure. Great quirky little fleet but seems like everywhere I go I end up seeing one of their fleet around. Its crazy how they always seem to be just sitting there (whenever I go to Vegas) but always manage to be evferywhere I go.

Saw the Tristar in Bangkok Don Muang last year. Seen the SP in Geneva. The 767 at LTN a few times as well. So cool.

I see these aircraft all the time at the McCarron executive airport. Never the L-1011. Mostly the SP.. I quite often wondered who owned them. Another cool company jet is the MGM 757...

Diecast A380 - hmmmm. Tantalising.

Possible Liveries:

Singapore Airlines
Qantas
Korean Air
China Southern
Lufthansa
Emirates
Emirates Rugby World Cup
Air France
Malaysian
Thai
British Airways

And coming soon -

Qatar Airways
Etihad
Asiana
Transaero
Skymark Japan (may never be delivered)
Kingfisher (will never be delivered)
Air Austral (may never be delivered)
FedEx (fantasy scheme, for now)
UPS (" likewise)
Hainan Airlines / Air Hong Kong (under threat but will likely be completed once China sorts out the EU ETS)
VIP bird for the Saudi King
Vietnam Airlines (may never be delivered but sure would sell well)
Virgin Atlantic (" ditto likewise)

Plus the likelies over the next few years -

Turkish Airlines (very likely to order the bird with/without some 747-8is by year end)
Air China (rumoured to be done and dusted pending resolution to the EU ETS thing)
KLM (long rumoured, no reason why they cant make a small fleet of 5 work)
Cathay Pacific (likely to take the A380-900 as soon as it is ordered, but may take a A380-800R version if Airbus launch it)

Some very cool liveries there to do, I can see why they invested in the mould. Lets hope its a really good one and not massively flawed like the GJ 77W mould. I'm sure it will be a hugely impressive model regardless, though interestingly probably not going to be a big seller in the US. Generally the US collectorate and wider air enthusiast community there view the A380 very negatively and are unlikely to shell out $150-160+ for a plane they love to despise.

I'm sure the rest of the world will take up the slack though!

Okay, my guess is this is a Sovereign 200 model, given 1) it looks like it was hand-painted and 2) there were only 5 pieces made total.

Lovely model; seems they did a bit better on this larger model than they did on their DC-9 and B727.

Where's "McCarron Executive"? I know of McCarran and Henderson Excecutive.

I highly doubt you're seeing anything from Sands coming out of KHND. The runways will NOT support the weight of anything Sands flys except the Gulfstreams.

The executive airport is on the very south end of Las Vegas Blvd by the famous "Welcome to Las Vegas sign" before you come to Sunset Rd. or the 215 freeway. Its across the street from the Town Square Center and Fry`s electronics. This is where you see the Sands jets as well as MGM`s corporate jets and NBA team jets...

There are several parts to it. It actually starts at LV Blvd and Tropicana and runs all along the west side of Mccarron running down Las Vegas Blvd ending about a mile before Sunset Rd.

Incorrect, sir. That's McCarran International. Perhaps a spell check will answer your questions.

Wow, that is nice...real nice! Last I heard the real one was still in Bangkok after being stuck there after that major flood the old airport, I hope that they prep it to fly it out soon!

The Sands L1011s don't fly any more... The one in Bangkok was inundated with flood water apparently beyond economic repair, and the one parked in the UAE hasn't flown for years as it needs several major ADs doing that are too costly to justify

Count me in, too. Would love to see Gemini200 getting the licence from the Sands Corporation to do their aircraft in 1/200, however, as far as I recall, Rod once called it "very unlikely" this will ever happen as the Sands Corp. would not give permission to them.

However... "Never say never (again)"...

Actually the Executive Airport by the Welcome to Las Vegas sign is McCarron Field Executive Airport. Tropicana and Las Vegas Blvd is the location of Las Vegas Executive Airport. It is owened by Eagle Aviation Resources and it provides services for private aircraft at Mccarron..

You also have the EG&G airlift terminal there as well which we all know operate the JANET 737`s...

Anyone flying to the airport that is by the famous "Las Vegas" sign is going to McCarran. Don't let any sign fool you. I used to work for Eagle Airlines at the "Las Vegas Executive Air Terminal" located at McCarran. It is/was just an FBO on the field, such as Signature Flight Support, Eagle Aviation, whatever. Anything flying into that airport has filed to fly into KLAS, McCarran International. As far as the flying world goes, there is no "Las Vegas Executive Airport"

Again, incorrect. First off check your spelling. It's not "McCarron" it's McCarran. KLAS is McCarran International Airport, and there isn't a sperate airport called "McCarron Executive". You can try and explain geographical points in town until you're blue in the face but you're 100% wrong.

Also, look up definitions like "FBO" and you should find some answers to what you may think is your fictitious "McCarron Execitive". The only airport in town with the word "executive" appearing in the name is KHND known as Henderson Executive.

Ok I admit I spelled McCarran wrong. But you guys are wrong about the executive airports. Look up Las Vegas Executive Air Terminal and see what pops up. Here is a pic of the entry way to McCarran Airfield Executive Airport...

That's just a nostalgic title and sign. McCarran International used to be called McCarran field. The planes that leave that "executive terminal" are using the same taxiways and runways as the big boys on the other side of the airport. It's just the entrance to the GA (General Aviation) area of McCarran International Airport.

Look on google earth at McCarran International. The airline side makes up the whole northeast of the airport. The "executive" GA side makes up the whole west side of the airport, near the strip and famous sign, along with the Janet Terminal, Quail Air Center, fuel farms, etc. They are all using the same airport--McCarran International KLAS

Yes you are correct about sharing the main runways. Usually the runway running north to south. They are executive terminals and not an actual airports with their own runways. I do apologize if I confused you all by suggesting that is was an airport in and of itself.... That was not my intention...

...was just the "Executive AIRPORT" part that was throwing us off, we're all on the same page now

It looks lovely. Is that your hobby? I was collecting little sports car models long ago. And today all my hobbies are far in the past. Now I prefer gaming. I am especially keen on inbet slots. If you know sites with an attractive bonus system and other incentives, please let me know. It would be great to find a new reliable resource and start your progress there.
