Im glad I havent dished out for a 1/200 AA 737 yet! I was thinking it would be released sooner or later...mostly later.

Have we not seen a 1/200 757 release from GJ this year??? I dont remember any from this year...hope the mould is OK.

AA B738 (at a sensible price). Likely not to many more models released in this livery? I will have the Pan Am as well. Sweet models.

AA 737-800! Awesome ! I'm really happy they re-released it. I will not be missing out on this one. I think I'll pick one up in Florida towards Christmas. That Buffalo DC-3 also looks great, I'm excited to see the next season of the show, and I'm sure this one will be more affordable than the one through the Buffalo Store. Thanks GJ!

AA 738! I'm so happy they re-released it! I'm definately gonna buy this one. Will look great next to my GJ200 AA 777. Those IF200 AA 738s are gonna sit on the shelves for a long, long time now. Not only does the mould suck, the cockpit windows are so bad that you don't even notice it's a 737 lol

Thank god no Delta this time around. Still trying to get the funds for the L1011 and DC3 and A330. If the PanAm would of been a 747-100 Billboard I would of been all over it. Glad to see some are happy with the selections. I am sure will be belly aching about the North American releases.

Wow. Great time to add the AA 738. New livery or not, the polished AA birds are classic and will be missed by aviation enthusiasts worldwide once they disappear. A true Anti-Eurowhite livery if there ever was one.

Thanks Gemini!

I'll take the AA 738W, but disappointed re the rest. BA 734 has been done by PHX. Will most likely get it if the Reg# is different though.

That BA 737 is great, hopefully more BA short hauls types to come.
But I think what we have here is a month of quality, not quantity, it wouldn't be a surprise to me if all of these models were to sell out straight away.

We really need a V2500-powered A319 and A320.

I'd buy both the Olympics scheme Babybuses as well.

Union Flag livery Brymon Dash 8-300? NICE.

I know we'd never see it but the nice BD/BA hybrid Airbuses that have been flying around would be nice as well - maybe a custom jobby.

There is definitely a market for the A319,320 and they may as well do another A321, as that sold well. But I get the feeling the time has past for the Dove/Firefly, although I still wouldn't mind one of each.

Loving the Pan Am 747SP!

Probably gonna get the AA738 as well.
Thankfully there's not much on the 1/400 side to compete for funds.

can't see how you can call this a RE-RELEASE it has a different reg no!! 983an instead of 903an its simply just another release or a second release.

I have no clue... management has been keeping it as much of a secret from the rank-and-file as they are from the general public. I'll probably find out when the rest of the world does! It is a good marketing ploy, though, because it creates an air of anticipation!

Definitely getting the AA738! Thank you, Gemini!

One thing though, is it me or the nose gear of that Pan Am 747SP is a little too big?

It's not just you. It is too big. Just compare it to an IF200 747, which to me is the gold standard for accuracy.

Until IF200 comes out with a Pan Am 747SP, though, its not like you have a choice. Besides the gear, it is a beautiful model (I have two).

How pleasing to see those gouging greedy buggers trying to get $220+ for one of the AA 738Ws get properly served up when GJ announced this.

Have no idea why but it makes me so angry when people take advantage of the collectorate in this way, even though its free market economics and the way the world works. I shouldnt have an issue with guys doing it, but somehow I do. I think if you've gone your whole life buying models at a fair price, not (or very very rarely) buying ones that are not fairly priced, and charging a fair price for the ones you sell, that sort of thing seems out of step somehow.

Always makes me happy to see the greedy ones have to suck it up when GJ does re-releases. I can hear the howling from Hong Kong (and elsewhere) from here.

I blame the moneyed numpties who pay daft money in the first place for those GOTTA HAVE IT models. I've done it once or twice and its always left a nasty taste in my mouth.

Can/Does getting gouged big time on a model affect your enjoyment of the piece?

I had a DW American Airlines MD83 a few years ago - was fleetbuilding AA and missing only a couple of pieces. Not mega mega hard to find but extremely hard to find for anything like a decent price, i eventually, against my better judgement, gave in and paid $142/£88 for it, and from the day it arrived I absolutely hated it. Lovely, lovely model but couldnt stick how much i'd paid for it.

Anyone else feel like this or is it just me?

You are not alone. I don't get particularly upset about it, though, I just recognize that some models are out of my reach, and probably always will be. I simply cannot justify paying more than $300 for a little metal/plastic model plane. Most of the public would find $300 a ridiculous sum.

That's why there is no IF200 Billboard "Juan Trippe" or a IF200 DC-8 in my Pan Am lineup. I'm told the going rate for the latter is somewhere north of $700, which is absolutely insane.

If collectors are selling their models, let the market decide the price. Its speculators/profiteers, who have no love/interest in this hobby, and simply see it as a way to feather their nests, that to me is wrong. But there is nothing I can do about it. It is interesting, though, that the guy trying to sell the Gemini Pan Am L-1011 on eBay has (so far) found no takers for his $599 price.

Have no idea why but it makes me so angry when people take advantage of the collectorate in this way, even though its free market economics and the way the world works. I shouldnt have an issue with guys doing it, but somehow I do. No, it's not just you. I've done the same thing, actually with the first AA 737-800 from GJ. Wanted it so bad, kept waiting, yearning then bought one for $200, loved the model but i never really 'enjoyed' it like the others. Slapped it up on Ebay, and actually made $50 on the deal. Glad i did.

I humbly feel that there is a certain balance that brings cause in our level of involvement in this hobby. On one end, we have our love for the hobby, along with our criteria (desires, interests, quality, knowledge) this side easily points toward a yes... Then on the other, we have a more determining factor which involves whether we can afford it ( and the willingness to spend after confirming that its worth spending that amount) which follows our priorities: rent / mortgages / mouths to feed / essentials. once we can say yes to everything, we have a balance, and then we have a "green" light - go make that purchase / bid.

...And the answer to your question - You certainly aren't the only one. These supply and demand does make the hobby more challenging, and the Rolling Stones said it best - "You can't always get what you want". If you bought something you "really" wanted and did not feel good about it, you did it on pure impulse... Now you're smarter than you were before that purchase, because you probably will not venture down that avenue again. And hundred dollar model after hundred dollar model, you can confidently pass and not feel so bad... I had my days of impulse buying... Sadly it takes the sting of the impulse to become more mindful of purchases...

Besides, a release so good will eventually come around again.... Just like this wonderful Gemini 200 American 738. Hopefully, an AA 757 will follow in the near future...

I'm having this issue now with a model I want on eBay. Another earlier release from GJ. Do I dare spend over $150 for the model? Or do I wait patiently to see if GJ is going to do a second release of it? Decisions, decisions...

Well it all depends on which one it is. I'm sort of surprised Gemini is doing this, so maybe it's a sign that they will indeed do this with other popular models.

Since my days of impulse buying, the MAX i am willing to pay is $150 and that is stretching it. I did the whole $200 per model thing and it really turned me off the hobby. When i would look at my display cabinet i didn't see beautiful, accurate models in all their glory. I saw stacks of $200 bills sitting, collecting dust.

Remember this: A fool and his money are soon departed.

Good luck!

no just not u. i am collecting seriously only for few months and learning my things. i offered JC Wings for his VA 777-300 $100 whereas it is selling for $50 in waffle now. i bought biman boeing 319 for 70$ on ebay coz i did not know there r retailers/individual sellers to sell these stuffs. i thought ebay is the only resort. however i learnt quickly except 're-release' thing. i knew once released, its done, no more release. so was looking for GJ200 L1011 widget desperately. thankfully i saved my @ $ $ through re release. but by then i got into another impulse buying and paid 150$ for pan am L1011. i know its not a big sum for many but it was against my nature and definitely i HATE that model now (bought just 2 months ago). now i not gonna buy anything at unreasonable price. will wait for re release. there r other ways, i just bought herpa united 747 battleship for 55$ instead of 380$ IF200. yes there is difference but thats nothing when u compare 55 against 380. they r mere models! sanity first, not models.

I have ordered the Pan Am 747SP and the AA 738 from Flying Dream.
I bought an AA 738 on Ebay for $80 (it arrived from the USA today). It was a bit more than the rereleased AA738 but now I will have both registration numbers.
