Cool Herpa B747-8F Cargolux

Hello friends:

I want to share with you this new baby to my collection, finally arrived last Saturday but last weekend was a holiday, so I was enjoying and today I really take a look about this 747.

Sorry about the pictures but we have bad weather at Mexico City right now, cloudy, rainy and cold. I did my best and hope you like the photos below.

Feel free to comment.

Here some photos showing details:

Here a face to face with my recent purchase (Hong Kong Trader).

I love the GE logos on the engine cowlings, nicely done. The box is pretty nice too. The aerials give realism despite the model has more than the real one but I do not complaint about it. I love this model. Perhaps I will bought the British World Cargo and sell my Hogan.

Well that's all DA.C'ers. If you want a face to face with the Lufthansa Intercontinental just give me a shout.

Have nice week and my special greetings to New York and east coast members in these difficult days. Hope you are OK.

It looks a like a bit of dihedral?

I don't collect cargo models, but both of these are quite striking, especially the HK Trader.

Congrats!!

Hi:

Here more photos with its Hogan brother Cargolux and with its sister Lufthansa. Hope you like the photos.

Hogan Cargolux 747-400F

A little bit of height discrepancy between rudders or vertical stabilizers

Didn't notice the belly printing until now.

Herpa Lufthansa B747-8i

Clearly visible the difference with the hump length between models.

Frets were another difference between models, Intercontinental has just one above the fuselage while the freighter has three of them. In the belly both have the same aerials, one behind the nose wheel and three in the rear section.

Hasta pronto amigos.

Herpa's Boeing 747-8(F) is well done. Hope to see Korean Air Boeing 747-8 from Herpa in the future.

Hi Jetdin:

The Lufthansa I got it about 5 months ago by eBay auction, I paid for it $63 usd plus shipping. Someway it was a bargain considering the regular prices for one of these nowadays.

BTW, who knows which is the next intercontinental delivery other than Lufthansa? What other airlines ordered the passenger version? Perhaps Thai, Korean, Air China could see in the next year....

Wow thats nice. I could be seriously tempted. I dont really collect plastic or resin really - its diecast or bust for me, but I could totally see myself buying one of these.

Must be enormous, right?

Wonder whether GJ might do a diecast mould?

Hello,

nice 747...

Can you post a pic of the underside of the 747.
On your pics, it seems that the logo of cargolux on the nose is not placed correctly, not in the middle of the fuselage.
Can you confirm this?

Perhaps yes, but it looks good to me.

I think they are somehow solid and somehow hollow. Not heavy at all, buy they might have a very thick body of resin because their consistence is very hard.

Well, to get you a real dimension of this model take a A319 and A320, make a line with both of them and you almost get the total lenght on the B747-8. Also put side to side the A320 and A319 you will almost get the wingspan of the B747-8 like I show in the pictures.

Why did I put those models? Well, they are recent additions too.

Yes, I had noticed that too. The nose logo is a little bit displaced to the right side of the nose aswell as the door line beneath on the fuselage has a strange angle. Otherwise they are not big deal for me, you will never find a perfect model. Here some pics for you.

A post resurrection!

Well Yogi-
I picked this up today after doing a lot of pic viewing of the real plane, the models, etc. I really love the airplane's proportions, and the Cargolux scheme is really beautifully designed. So, will be back in a week after I pop the box open!
Thanks for your encouraging comp photos~

PS: I have the Herpa LH 748 too, so this will be a nice set for the shelf!

Best,
Herb

I saw the real aircraft flying overhead at 30,000 feet a couple of weeks back and I was able to make out the cargolux on the Belly. Too bad my Camera could not capture it though.

Gorgeous model.

Old thread indeed. Well, I am looking forward to see your pictures. It's been a while since I have not taken some pictures of this aircraft. Here is one picture from 2012, when I was starting as a occasional spotter (sorry about the mutilated stabilizers).

THanks for the pic Yogurt~ Great sight. There's nothing that beats seeing this close in person. Would be interesting to see how the cabin is arranged in what would be considered the "lounge". THere are three windows, so it's possible there is a crew rest area/seating.
