Talking Finally my 727 collection is complete (pictorial)

Hi everyone:

Yesterday I finally got the last two B727's missing in my Mexicana collection and wanted to share this with you. I took me some time complete it for many reasons but now that I have the money and the chance, well here it is:

Enjoy the pics.

One the last two missing in my collection.

The other model missing in my collection, quite simple design.

Forgive the quality for the next photos, to blury .

A little bit artistic, with their Gemini golden line brother in the middle.

Another one.

I miss so much this aircraft and those noisy P&W JT8D engines roaring in the sky but life goes on.....

Greetings.

Great collection, really nice to see. Just out of curiosity though, why did the one named Olinala have a US tail number ?

You know what? I was guessing the same yesterday while watching it. Last night thinking on this I did a little search and I think it was rented to an american airline (LACSA) or was leased, it never belonged to Mexicana (maybe I am wrong).

Also saw some pictures of the aircraft these days and now it flies with a cargo airlines based in Puerto Rico. So far is all know about it.

Have a great Wednesday.

Congratulations on the great collection. I have been thinking about adding a Jet-X Mexicana 727 to my collection, but there are so many great tails to choose from, I'm having a hard time deciding which I like best!

Nice photos and a great collection. Which was the last model that you obtained to complete the collection.
I agree with jsjscd9a, Ansett and TAA flew both the B727 and the DC-9's. they were marketed as "whispering T Jets" Many things threw were but whispering they never was.

The last two were the purple tail with registration N1279E named Olinalá and the blue tail XA-MXE Tehuayo. And there still missing at least one of this prehispanic designs. Hope Jet-X make it soon.

Wow they look GREAT together! Completing a set of something is rewarding - I felt that way when getting all four Braniff Flying Colors 722s. The Mexicana set is spectacular - too bad they're no longer around

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. These are the designs that talked about in my last post. At least there are 2 of them that still missing and they really worth the artwork.

The first one is this orange livery with the prehispanic drawing of the Quetzalcoatl, named Atzacualco (could be name Mexicali too) and registration XA-HOV. Beautiful design indeed.

The second could be this one. XA-MEC with this square drawing emulating the huichol art and named Nayarit (could be named Guanajuato). Note there also another design for this registration in the decal sheet but I prefer the one showed on the picture.

This pair would be a great addition to my fleet collection and for 727 lovers. Hope Jet-X get this suggestions to future releases. Is there a way to contact them?

Anyway. Thumbs up for these 727's made Jet-X and Gemini, excellent mould.

Simply this plane was belonging to a US lessor or leasing company.

Oh - how I wish I could spend about a week travelling by air back in those days... I would fill up several hundred SD-cards with my digital camera and I would pick up a few travel-agency display-models from that era...

Hi:

Yes, of course I will! I was tempted to ask to anybody here please share photos of them, if you already have. Today I placed my order with Nick.

I watched the pictures on EZ-Toys and Waffle sites and.... DAMN!!!! Nice birds!!!! By the way, Waffle has now only the XA-TUY, seems the other one has sold out.

JC did them just like 1:400 models, great replicas. The most important thing for XA-SEL, "Azteca de Oro" perfectly written. Not like Latinclassics as they put it a horrible X: "Axteca de oro".

This year was a great one for mexican collectors, too many models over these last months for us. Right away we ended up almost with empty pockets for Christmas.

Thanks for the advice and everyone for your kind comments. I will post pictures of these gorgeous 727-100 when they arrive, perhaps in 2 weeks.

Greetings!

Thanks Upkeep.

In fact, I pretended that arrengement were most like a compass but seems that looks more like a snowflake. I glad many of you like this thread, specially the photo you quote, that was my intention.

The B727 was always my favorite plane when I was a kid, there was no day I had looked up into the sky and watch of them passing over my home in her approach to MMMX. Had the fortune to travel in one, get down from the plane using the rear stairs. Feels more like re-birth.

Still seeing this bird but now as part of Federal Goverment, the Federal Police now uses this babe to move personel or top restricted jail prisoners. She looks really nice is dark color and using winglets. Check this photo I took myself.

I have seen this done in 1:200 as a custom model, I think Stang did one for a friend of mine.

Best regards.
