Default Anyone have the 1:200 FM Delta 737-900? I need pics!

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have the 1:200 Flight Miniatures Delta 737-900? I just stumbled on it tonight and from what i can tell it looks beautiful! I love the Delta livery.

I don't think Delta has even taken delivery of the 737-900 but it will be a good looking plane!

I'm looking for more pictures of this model before i purchase. If i get it, i'll install some gear and it should fit in well with the rest of my collection. I did the same with their AirTran model and it worked quite well.

Do you guys think it's a good idea? Let me know what you think! And if anyone already has the model please post some pics!!

As long as you put the horizontal stabilizers right side up, it just might work.
Hehehe.

BTW, I don't know if it was your plane, but I really liked the pics of the AirTran B-717 conversion awhile ago here on the forum.

I have that plane and I'll tell you that FM has a good 737 mould the wings on this plane come out flat meaning they do not angle up like they should.

A couple more things. You can get that model direct from FM for about $18, they also sell a Delta 777-200LR in the new colors.

Flight Miniatures makes some good models. Only downside is that they don't have gear. They have been trumped by Hogan and Skymarks in many cases.

I have it and it is a great shape/mould for the B739. Id double check with that eztoys shop to make sure you are buying what you want, namely the 1:200 FM B737-900 Delta. Some shops post pictures of the wrong item and maybe have not realised it or they dont really know much about that item/model......

Can anyone explain (briefly) to me why "gear is a must"? I kind of know .... you can display in ground mode .... the model is more complete with gear .... and Hogan is great for giving you both options most of the time .... BUT what specifically is the infatuation with "it must have gear"? Will you forego buying the only model available if it has no gear and hope/pray/wait that a model manufacturer will bring it out (which maybe never)? ... or just go the way of an expensive custom job....?

Also, a lot of Skymarks/Risesoon models have fixed gear.....can they be "converted" to flight-mode with a slight mod (and back to ground mode) like the majority of Hogans? When I first started collecting I tried to pull the gear off a Skymarks model and almost broke them off, not realising that they were fixed/glued in place ..... some times the nose gear and main body gear will come out no prob but the wing gear appears fixed (even though you can see that it looks like it can be removed from the gear recess space on the wings)....

Oh yeah i just noticed that... they must have screwed something up. Diecastairplane has it right:

Delta Airlines 737-900 (1:200) New Colors - Flight Miniatures Snap-Fit Airliners Delta Airlines 737-900 (1:200) New Colors #LP6521 at diecastairplane.com

And for my collection, having gear kinda is a "must" because i don't display them on the stands. But after doing the 1:200 FM AirTran 717 "mod" i know it's possible to add gear quite easily so i'm totally open to purchasing models that lack it, just as long as i can add it! I promise everyone on here, the quality of Flight Miniatures "fuselages" is the same as Hogan's once you add gear and minor paint details- at least this is true for their AirTran 717. Once the gear is added, it makes a HUGE difference!

But looking at this Delta model (from the pics i can see) i'm afraid the engines aren't gonna cut it. I have two other 737's, one from Gemini Jets (WN 737-700) and another from Phoenix (USAir 737-400) and the cheap plastic engines on this FM 737 probably won't look that good next to the others...

Does anyone know if the 737-900 wings and engines are "visibly" different (in terms of shape, length, etc) compared to the 737-800? If they're the same, i could use the Gemini Jets Delta 737-800 as a donor A/C and use the gear, wings and engines to put on this FM model. That would make a huge difference! All i need is the extended fuselage of the 900.
