Default Gemini AA MD11 nose gear door

My long waited GJ AA MD11 arrived today and surprisingly notice the nose gear door doesn't look like the one on the real plane at all. It should be at the wider angle when fully opened outward. See the photos for the difference. I hope there be a new one as replacement.

The one on the model doesn't look anywhere close to this.

Check out the pics of the new SMA MD-11; their version's gear doors are splayed to the correct angle. Hopefully they will release an AA model.

well I cannot believe they messed up the gear door. It is a feature on a MD11.

Well, that's Gemini for ya. Lol. Stranger things have happened.

I think this is indicative of the type of accuracy the SMA folks have been touting from day one. Whereas the competition messed up on detail which might be trivial to some, critical to others (such as you, kl729), SMA got it right. I went back and reread some of the SMA thread from last year, when they first announced their plans to enter the 1:200 market. This quote from David Hingtgen sums it up:

Yes, there's already MD-11's out there. But the goal is to have the best one.
Though they've just barely released their first two models, it looks like they are living up to promises. To say I'm excited about the future of SMA is an understatement. I'm crossing my fingers that they will eventually release an entire lineup of their own moulds, and stay true to their mantra of producing the most accurate models possible.

Now, let's see some of the same types they did in 1:400! 727, 737, DC-9...

Those geardoors are metal, just like most of the model.
Just bend it a little until they are in the correct angle.

I have just adjusted one pair of geardoors very quickly;
Please note that the model is not level placed, i just needed it to stand somewhere so i could take the picture of the adjusted geardoors

Glad they are metal and I actually bent it with extreme care before I read your post. The model now turned out to look much better. Thanks for your post anyway. GJ should be more careful next time.
