Default Eztoys store in San Diego

So I am thinking of driving down to SD from LA to go and visit the Eztoys store. Do you guys think it is worth it? Is the store big? Are all the models that they have in the online store on display? How many 1:200s are on display?

Great store, but not what you would expect at all. 3/4 of it is literally a toy store, with the remaining bit of it actually selling 1/400 , 1/200 scale planes. Mostly 1/400. I make the drive every once in a while from OC. They do not carry near the amount that they have available online... So is it worth it? I guess it depends who you ask, to me, I say ehh... Prices are marked up and the selection is marginal.

I guess there is no way to use the online code to get 10% off when shopping in person.

Give it a shot...it's not a bad selection just obviously not what you'd find online. John usually works the shop and provides good conversation about the hobby and might possibly toss something your way if you mention the online code. If you're in the area check it out. Make a special trip? Nah.

It's definitely not worth the trip down from LA, I'd rather go to House of Hobbies during their St Patricks or Halloween 40% off sales.

There's got to be at least 85 other more interesting things to see in SD, not even counting the eye-candy on the beach which at your age should be more important than toy airplanes.

Their fruit and vegetable parking was a bit confusing for me.

The shop was small. Not much there to see.

I personally have never been to the store but I will say this, I have been collecting for many years and have never been totally satisfied with the on line stores until the 1st time I bought from EZtoys. Kam and John are very knowledglable and very much on top of their game. I now give them 100% of my business which for a single collector is quite a bit. Give him a call and let him know that you are coming down, what do you have to lose? I am sure that you will be able to pick up a couple of bargins from them. Have a great trip!

I have visited before with my family; it was well worth it!!!

I came away with my diecast fix, my kids got some toys, and since it's located in a very nice mall, my wife enjoyed her shopping too!
They have some good restaurants there too, and a great food court.

Say "hi" to Kam for me if you do go

With free distance calls, I've chatted with Kam once or twice...personally, I,d love to visit his shop, but San Diego is a bit far from Lisbon, Portugal have had some good deals, and its a shame the time and hassle portuguese customs take/cause when theres something my way from the 'States...so I'm buying within Europe these days.
But then again, I like to visit model shops everywhere !!!
As Andrew said, Say "HI" to Kam if you go visit him

That sounds like ALL the right reasons to pop by! I'll definitely stop in on my next visit to the area.

I was just at SD 2 weeks ago and dropped by EZTOYS. Caution though for some reason the prices are a lot more in person than online. I think they were trying to sell my the CRJ-900 Delta for $60-70 around there. And the Pan Am 747SP for $125ish. Its nice to visit (considering i never visited a store that sells model planes) But its not a big deal.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but do the statements here still ring true about the stock in the store being limited and the prices being higher than online? Thanks!

Depending how far you want to venture out, Burbank House of Hobbies is a great place to go.

I'd love to check that place out in person for model making supplies. Glen was very helpful re: my last order. And it is in Burbank 'Television City'.

I went to see Kam, at his old store at the Horton Plaza. Very friendly. Not to big, but much going on. I got to look at models, and my wife was loose in "Macy's" with my Visa.
