Default 3 New Pan Am Models!

The Gemini 200 Pan Am 747SP...flanked by the Aviation 200 Pan Am and Pan American 707-300's.

Not the best pics. No apologies though.

I'm kinda with the other Todd. I love classic jets from the 1960s and '70s. And though this particular model is a "reproduction" 1980s version of N880PA, I'm a bit partial to it over the SP or other 707.

Don't get me wrong though: each is a very nice model! If you purchased one, two or all three, you'll be pleased!

I have both 707s on order. Have been on the fence about the SP, but may bite given the good reviews.

Well, not that anyone here will really care, but I've spotted another fatal error on the short-titled "Pan Am" 707, the AV200 mid 1970s N767PA release.

The model appears to have PAN AM titles on the upper wing surfaces. This would be 100% wrong. These titles were removed from the 707 fleet when the titles were being shortened from "PAN AMERICAN" to "PAN AM" on the fuselage with the original PAN AM font.

In about 1973, PA began experimenting with a new font, bolder with curved serifs and letters that touched each other, as shown on the model. There were NEVER and titles on the wings in this iteration of the Pan Am 707.

Here is a photo of the scheme on A.net:

One more cancelled order -- until somebody in 1/200 gets a Pan Am model right.
But isn't this model supposed to represent a special retro PA from the early 1980s?

The version with the full PAN AMERICAN title is that version, and it is essentially 100% correct for N880PA as depicted in the "resurrected" 1958 scheme, with a few 70s details, mainly the paint around the nose section and the exit paths on the wings.

I was referring to the other 707 in the photo. This is the 1973-1983 scheme in which PA operated the 707, with short PAN AM title in the newer font. See the attached A.net thumbnail. It did not have PAN AM titles on the wings, as the model appears to have.

Of course, the photo of the models is not very high resolution -- and my eyes could be playing tricks on me. Todd Michaels -- CAN YOU PLEASE CONFIRM WHETHER THIS MODEL HAS PAN AM TITLES ON THE WINGS OR NOT? I am praying you will say NO...

Thanks!

I have the 707 full title and 747SP in the pattern, hopefully they'll have landed on my doorstep real soon!

Great pics ... I have the same load of models coming right now to France ...
Now we need a DC8 to be done by AV200 & a 747-200 in Billboard titles
by GJ or IF200...
