I like this one...I saw it on their website the other day. Very nice! Cheaper alternative to the Herpa version, non-flexed wing as Hogan, nice in between model.

Very, very nice !! I'm not a RS fan, but this 747-8 looks very good, more detailed than most RS models. I think to take one of it, where have you get your ?

No doubt the model looks great. Particularly the wings and the engines leave Hogan in the dust. The rest is pretty good except for the nose/cockpit section. I would still buy the Herpa version (it's on my list), but this is way ahead of Hogan's 747-8i.

This model compared with the Herpa? Which is better done? I like the Herpa but this one looks great.

Cons and Pros, please.

I actually think the nose mould looks great - the cockpit windows are just a bit off.

It's funny how both 747-8's that have the nice flat wings both messed up the window shape - the 747-8 has the more round 777 windows, and these are more square like the 744.

Still remain a fantasy plane as it's not up in the sky yet. I suppose the real a/c is not "christian" yet, that's why there's no christian name printed on this model, which is normally located next to the 1st door lower deck.

Dont want to be a party pooper, but I find the red on the doors to bold and dark. I have seen this bird in flesh and blood and the red did not hurt the eye. On the model it does - or is it just the light.

Further, I would wait for Yankee Alpha to be named in the LH Tradition before putting my money on it.

I dont think it is a fantasy model. It is just not in commercial service. The keys are handed over and the aircraft is being readied for maiden flight.

The photos of the model were enhanced by somebody. It is pretty clear that the 'contrast' setting up increased which makes brighter colors 'pop'.

This model doesn't have the black lines/ do not step notices on the top of wings. Also the YA on the nose gear doors should be blue not white. But, it is still a beautiful model!

Thanks, mate. There's always a name of a German city in every LH aircraft.

or a state. Brandenburg is a state in Germany where the new BER airport is coming us and currently delayed till further notice.

There had been some exceptions to this rule.

One plane - a A340-300 with rego D-AIFC was named Gander/ Halifax to honour the city which hosted our planes during the 911 crisis.

Then some 727s carried contentinent names:
B727
D-ABUA Europa
D-ABUE America
D-ABUI Asia
D-ABUJ Africa
D-ABUO Australia

Then with the advent of A380s, it was decided to name after Star Alliance hubs.
D-AIMC Beijing
D-AIMD Tokio/ Tokyo
D-AIME Johannesburg
D-AIMF Zürich/ Zurich
D-AIMG Wien/ Vienna
D-AIMH New York
D-AIMI Berlin

In between Lufthansa Cargo named the planes after continents, international cities or even persons:

B747-200F
D-ABYO America
D-ABYU Asia
D-ABZF Africa
D-ABZB New York
D-ABZI Shanghai

MD11
D-ALCD Michael Otto

Lufthanasa Italia, of course used Italian cities to name their fleet

D-AKNF Torino
D-AKNG Varese
D-AKNH Bologna
D-AKNI Genoa
D-AKNJ Milano

Modiluft, a technical Joint venture in India, accordingly used names of German rivers. This applied to the fleet leased from LH
VT-MGA or MGB Rhein
VT-MGD Moselle
VT-MGC Danube

it is the first version, usually RS improves with their second and third version of the same plane. i also have this plane when i went to Risesoon and saw it i just fell in love with it even thou there can be improvements such as you said the no step, black lines and even the racked wingtips needs to be tilted up a little, but they did get a lot that is correct like the connection section from the wings to the fuselage and the white top for the wings all in all its a very well made model
