Default GJ200 Hints MAY 2012

Gemini Hints MAY 2012
As we gather near to celebrate our dear Mothers or Mums,
lest we not forget our diecast sons,

The 200 lot gets six for the shelf, this time there is plenty of wealth.

A long haul pioneer makes its first diecast appearance
as this one surely is worthy of overflight clearance,

A double dose of Veteran appeal,
one that is quite old and one that recently revealed,

A Dash from Deep South you will never guess,
If you figure it out, I'll never bother you with this mess,

and finally a mesh of Asian fusion and Brasilian Jungle juice
makes for an exotic cocktail

Nice to see that the GJ hints are back! I guess the long hauler will be the A330?

Yup....my guess for the "first diecast appearance" is the A330, I'm guessing it's Hawaiian. Hope so anyway!

So for "A long haul pioneer makes its first diecast appearance
as this one surely is worthy of overflight clearance" there is an A330 ... surely Hawaiian

& for "Brasilian Jungle juice" may be an A320 from TAM ...

The way I understood it, a long haul air airliner making its first appearance as a model.

I believe the A330 mould hint was on this: "A double dose of Veteran appeal, one that is quite old and one that recently revealed"

Shoot I hope not. I just got my Hawaiian L1011 and MD80 this week to start my Hawaiian collection. I still need to get Delta's release from this month. I need a couple of months with "nothing for me" to get the funds raised up

On that first one I was thinking it was a Pan Am 747sp, I know its been done in
1/400 but not by GJ in 1/200...its a bit of a stretch

are all of those hints referring to 1/200 only? on the other forum (400th), Don gives the same hints, but referring to both (1/200 and 1/400)..

If you read it again, all hints are about the 1:200 scale releases and obviously the smaller scale hints were edited out.

I think the original long haul jet pioneer was the Boeing 707, with non-stop flights across the Atlantic to Europe, and across the Pacific to Australia.

The next significant milestone was the 747-100, which fully realized point to point flights almost anywhere in the world.

These 2 aircraft were the true long haul pioneers.

But I don't think either of these models are likely next months picks.

But we can dream!

I agree. Sounds like an ERJ.

his rhyme ran out of steam at the end. Couldn't think of something that rhymed with 'juice'?

doesn't sound like there are any AS models coming this month, still my bet on the long haul pioneer is a Pan Am 747SP.

If that is the case I was just looking at that plane today and thought "that would be a interesting release" I would probably buy it.

An A330 would be a nice mix.

But it could also be a B747SP. "First diecast appearance" could mean its the first time GJ released the mould borrowed from another manufacturer.

Ehhh I dont see that hint referring to a 747sp as it certainly isnt the 747sp's first diecast appearance. Im going to go with a for sure A330 this month.

I wouldn't classify the A330 or Hawaiian Airlines as a "longhaul pioneer". Perhaps the "pioneer" refers to an airline rather than aircraft type.

I can't read A330 into any of the other clues either. Sorry

Long haul pioneer: 707, 747, dc-8, dc-10. Modern day long haul pineer: A340, 777, 747-400, a340-500/600.

I think most likely another 777.

I was also suspecting the Boeing 707 or 747. A 747-200 would be really nice... As for Asian fusion and Brazilian jungle juice making an exotic cocktail, Not too many Embraer choices, so I am thinking they are breaking in that new YS-11 mould. Here is my shot in the dark, a VASP YS-11.

The MD-11 was based on the DC-10 which was one of the long-haul pioneers and Finnair was the only western airline to my knowledge that had overflight of the USSR.

A friend of mine works for Finnair in Helsinki and he once told me that their route was the fastest from Europe to Japan and China than anyone else.

Just a guess.

VASP YS-11 is already done by JC WINGS who partner up with GJ on mould use. A shot in a real dark jungle .. could be a ATR / EMB from TRIP. ( owned by Jetblue owner )

How about a VARIG YS-11?

hmmm Asian Fusion and jungle juice... I don't think ATR could pass for "jungle juice". Embraer is possible, but how many possible Asian carriers are there to choose from?

Just got a email from my local retailer saying he has received his orders for the last batch of Gemini's JCs and AV200s, and he is usually one of the last to receive them. So now that the retailers all have their orders I'd say we may be hearing what the new releases are today!

Yes ... it's a 747SP ... and the first release is going to be ... American Airlines !!
Since it's been OVER A YEAR now since Inflight announced theirs ...
Gemini is going to grab all of our orders ... Now THAT would be funny !!

Aer Lingus were the first to use the 330 on ETOPS, so possibly "pioneer" refers to that....I hope!

My bets are on PAN AM B747SP and Hawaiian A330-200 as this last model was already spotted or "revealed". Regarding the Brazilian it may be refering to TAM A320 that has been long awaited but that Asian fusion throws me off, an EMB 190/170 mould would be very well received. Any way it looks like a promising month!!!!

I really hope they do AA 767-200 before American retires them from their fleet.
