Default 1/200 Virgin Atlantic Skymarks

Got these from Modelzone Manchester deansgate in december last year. Funny how another customer wanted the same models as soon as I walked in. I guess the demand for these are quite high in the UK, that's no surprise.

The A340-600 is nice but I think it lacks a lot of details just like the 747-400. Thats not a bad thing though as there is a lot of potential for custom detailed markings like wing corogaurds, etc.

Great photos of your Virgins! I also have these 2 models along with the A380; I like the metallic livery and it sort of makes the models look like they are diecast to the eye. I saw that A340-600 in Hong Kong (Chek Lap Kok) last year during my layover, it was beautiful to see that pull up to the gate right next to an Emirates A380! This Virgin A340-600 would get my vote for a diecast in the future along with a CX A340-600 . Thank you for sharing your models on the forum! cheers! T7

The only time I've ever seen a Virgin A346 was at Dubai, in the (old) new livery. And boy, was she glinting in the desert sun! That SM/RS Virgin 747 is an amazing model and one of my favorite 747s in the collection.

The nose gear on the B744 is fixed wrongly.
Note the diff btwn the A346.
Cheers

I posted the Skymarks Virgin Atlantic a340,a330,747 in the new livery already about 2 weeks ago, but from what I understand it's a limited run, and only being sold in the U.K but maybe the info I got is not correct.

Me too! These just look too plastic, more Airfix kit. I want depth and detail.

It says 'Pre-order due April 12' and today is the 14th. Does this mean the models are now available or the pre-ordering opens for acceptance on the 12th?

Anyone know if the new livery models will feature the metallic red paint or just a flat rendition like on already available 1:400 diecasts ?

I did read yours, Rob, and just continued what i thought was Moin's joke response! I thought he was joking as it just reads just 12. Bit daft innit? Obviously should read '12 or 2012.

No seriously I was confirming if the pre-orders are on from April the 12th or the models would be available from April the 12th because if it were the latter, then some pics should surface soon.

I take skymarks as a basis for customisation.

they are great for lazy modellers like myself. I plan to add corogaurd and paint the engines plus he landing gear structs. hope to make them as detailed as their hogan counterparts.
