this one's for rui. a farnborough classics 'bristol brabazon' picked this up from fellow member richard aka triple777uk!, for a really good price, when i visited his home on my wednesday round. big thanks richard. only two were made, and only one actually flew. killed off by the new jet age. but at least the popular bristol britannia was salvaged from the project. more details can be found here.

certainly a unique model. i think yo can still order these from crescent models. but they are £325! lot more than i paid! a bit more info from website.

The Brabazon has been modelled to a scale of 1:200 and is made of heavy-duty resin with metal component parts such as propellers, undercarriage and doors, tailskid, etc.

The rotating propellors are doubled in each nacelle to represent the contra-rotating twin-engined arrangement. All models are supplied with fixed undercarriage with rotating wheels, all carefully detailed to be in proportion and to scale. The gust alleviators are modelled in proportion to the side of the cockpit and the mass balance fairings are included on the wing surfaces as these are significant features of the aircraft. The inverted tripod tailskid is featured as well as the double aerials on top of the fuselage.

The engine nacelles are inclined upwards, the intake for the APU on the front of the fin is square, the exhaust outlets under the wing and the fuelling positions are featured all as the original aircraft.

The intention has been to create a model with a high attention to detail (as much as can reasonably be created), which is unusual in a model of this scale but which is a common feature of Crescent Models.

All models are traditionally silk strung onto a backboard within a box.

The cost of the model is £325 (pounds UK Sterling).

Where collection of the model cannot take place at any of the Aviation collector events that we attend, Crescent Models tries wherever possible to deliver the model to the customer (within a reasonable distance in the South-East of England), to avoid the possibility of any damage in transit, although the packaging has been carefully designed to wrap around the model to avoid this. An additional nominal sum of £10 (pounds UK Sterling) towards the expenses related to this will be charged.

Truly a magnificent aircraft and model. Robert . . . I am in absolute envy of you while looking at these photos. I know this resin model well, have been saving for one (slowly), and have reviewed those photos on the Crescent site a thousand times, if once. You got a real gem there, and I hope you got a good price as these things straight from Crescent are VERY pricey new.

As I said . . . I'm VERY envious.

To be clear- there are two completely different models of the Brabazon that have been made.
One is the Crescent model by Philip Jewell, made to order from resin. This is more expensive, with obsessive detail (note air intakes and mass balances at control surfaces).
The other is metal, originally made for CAM and marketed as 'Farnborough.' This is the version that Robertjon (and I) have. Less expensive, less detailed. I expect that ARD will soon release this as a 'Sky Classic,' with re-worked details and finishes.

Yes Russ, your pic from 2008 is the fantastic crescent resin model by Phil Jewel. RobertJon5's is the metal CAM Farnborough Classics job.

That was a good show back in 2008.

Retroguy,

I added to my thread that i screwed up on ebay and that i shp worldwide. It stayed in the UK but many of collection such as the Twincess, MI-12, VC10 etc went to the USA and Poland. Both offers so far for the Breguet 763 are from overseas.
