why is amraam being placed on wingtip of F-16c/d?
i notice amraam are now commonly placed on the wingtips of the F-16c/d instead of the aim-9 sidewinder. and the sidewinders now move to the outer wing pylon. somewhat of a reversal of what is usually seen with sidewinder on wingtip and sparrow on wing pylon in f-16a/b... i know the amraam is lighter and smaller than sparrow but still significantly heavier than aim-9.
so why would you place a heavier object on wingtips? wouldn't that increase movement of inertia and decrease roll rate?
