A naval Warhawk?

These were P-40s transported to North Africa, some being launched from aircraft carriers as part of Operation Torch, the British-American invasion of French North Africa during the North African Campaign of the Second World War which started on 8 November 1942.
Doing an internet search on Operation Torch bill bring you up all the information you want. |

I believe it was done to keep the carriers a safe distance away and let the fighters fight their way in if necessary.
