Last year I posted some photos of when the Commemorative Air Force of Arizona brought their B-29 bomber, "Fifi", to Springfield, as well as a few of their other planes. This year they brought a B-25, "Maid in the Shade," and a P-51 "Red Nose." I made it to the airport to see them, always awesome to see these old flying warplanes! Also met the tail gunner of the B-25 back when it was in combat! Here are some photos! It was a beautiful day to be at the airport checking out planes!!
The best part is that we were allowed to climb into the plane and look around!
And I have some more on my Flickr...but these pretty much sum it up! It was a lot of fun visiting these planes! Gotta see them while they are still around!
Always a real pleasure seeing these old birds still flying. I'm absolutely amazed at the quality of workmanship these machines have, considering how quickly they had to be built and that they were considered "disposable" by the very nature of their use. 70 years later, here they are.
