Default Updates on Good Ol' CYYZ

Let me put it the nicest way I can...
EGYPT AIR CANCELLED CAIRO-TORONTO

Sunwing will lease a good number of 767s from goodness knows where, for the summer for various flights to Europe.

Hainan Airlines, till May 24~, is flying in 2x weekly, on Wed and Sat. Why? Not enough passengers flying.

March 27th, sees the end of the KLM 747 arriving in the afternoon, replaced by the A330-200. Korean Air starts changes times the same day, KE flight 073 arrives noon and gets out at 1500 (777s). British Airways switches aircraft operations, BA093 will be a 767, while BA099 will ba a 777. Air India switches back to the 777-300ER.

Copa Airlines starts flying in June 16th, with 737-700s. Not sure what the times are, does someone have them noted down, because I don't

Alitalia shall move operations to terminal 3 (not fully confirmed yet).

Hellenic Imperial Airways is all set to start flights into Toronto. They even have us down as a destination on their website. All is needed now is a start up date. They'll be flying pax 747-200s, straight from Greece!

And I forgot to mention Egypt isn't all done with YYZ, their just postponed to fly here. They want winter 2011.

Thank y'all for reading

-Phil

I had started a thread on Egyptair's postponed service but had to delete it.

Korean's details are incorrect. Arrive at 1005 and depart at 1205. You would have turned up in time to see it depart

yyznews.com had the departure time incorrect. Looks like they put the flight arrival time in Seoul in there

February News

Korean Air (KE/KAL) --Feb 6, 2011

Schedule Change --effective with the changeover to the IATA summer schedule period on March 27th Korean Air flights from Seoul to Toronto will now arrive at 1005hrs daily with the return flight departing Toronto at 1435hrs utilizing their Boeing 777 aircraft. This will improve Korean Air's connection opportunities at Toronto, both from the arriving flight as well as to the departing flight.

Ahh don't blame Brian, he tries his best to keep his site as accurate as possible!

Egypt Air is postponed, till winter 2011 no? Perhaps you know a more precise answer.

March 27 shall be quite the interesting day. You in?

They are reducing to 2x weekly? Jeezus, we're having terrible luck, every Airline out there is either leaving, reducing capacity or backing out. Why?

Bad news: KLM is switching to the A332 for 747 on the daytime flight
Worse News: The "Daytime" flight now arrives at 11:45 am. Too early for me for a day of spotting, but I'll still make an effort.
Good News: The 747 is still flying the evening flight, KLM 695. KLM 695 has been bumped up from 2015 to 1930 arrival time, giving us spotters a little more daylight and less wait. Oh yes and KLM 695 will be operating 7 days a week.

Well at least we will see it. And whatever special schemes Korean 772s are wearing. I'm sure I will catch lots of departures. Just like I have TONS of of photos of Cathay 777s departing ever since they switched to an earlier time.

Looks like they're following KLM... WHY? Why does the aircraft we want to see come in much later than we are normally spotting. When do they switch? I will really make an attempt to catch BA 777s now. Good to hear AI 77Ws are coming back. It's nice to see the 77L sometimes. What time does AI depart YYZ?

Hmm. Sounds good! We don't see much Latin American stuff, Mexicana kicked the bucket, Aeromexico just disappeared, LAN is pulling out and TACA is never around.

That makes sense. T1 is primarily reserved for Star Alliance members or Airlines with deep pockets, such as EK, 9W and EY. I wonder where the AZ 767s will park since most of the T3 gates by the viewing area are occupied by KLM, AF, PK, WJ, TC and CX. Any word on AZ switching equipment? I heard the 767 will soon be replaced by the A330.

I just checked their website the other day. I'm very excited! A 747 classic on a passenger route! And YYZ will once again have a link to Greece after the days of Olympic. Any word on schedules yet?

OK, that does lift my spirits a little. Good to know they didn't drop us completely. I'd love to see their beautiful 777s here. I understand they have to put off several plans for expansion since the country is experiencing difficulties. I'd give them some time to get back on track and they will probably plan to fly here in the fall/winter. Still good news though.

.
Korean Air has two special schemes, the Olympic 2018 and Skyteam. Let the hunting begin!

Copa sounds good? Wait till you see their sked. Oh oh oh...

Speaking of Alitalia, yesterday, today, and tomorrow (March 6th) AZ650 is/was operated by the 777. Go get 'em Orion!

As for Hellenic...this will be a 747-200 with full pax to Greece. Imagine the departure climb. Loud, slow, and looking like its gonna fall out of the sky.

Yes, I will hunt the Korean and Cathay 777s with special schemes.

S'alright if I miss a 737-700 that looks like Continental.

A 777? I can't go see it. Why is are they using it?

Yes I can't wait to see the Hellenic 747! +1 747s for YYZ, and its a classic.

Wow, I didn't think there was enough traffic between Canada and Greece to support a 747. Is this flight seasonal?

Well, Olympic had an A340-300 running rounds between Greece. It was always around 65-80% full, so there a bit of traffic there. Oh jeez, I hope Hellenic isn't seasonal. pax 747-200s in an interesting scheme, I'd want them all year long!

I only ask because it's supposedly a charter airline.

I know what you meant. Really, I don't know if its seasonal. There is no sked yet, nothing. Currently they officially have YYZ down as a destination on their site...nothing more.

Hellenic is Not Such A Great Livery, But A 747-200 Would Be A Welcome Site.
I'll Miss The Hainan About As Much As I'll Miss The Snot I Washed Down The Drain This Morning. Ditto On Egypt Air.
