That's interesting, I guess some airports are doing an early prep.

At least these planes exist/will exist shortly. At FRA there are markings for A380-900. Go figure.

very good news ; but we won't see any A380-900 before at least 5 years as the priorities
at Airbus plants are (currently) the A400M, the A350 & at a low level the A380-800.

There are no firm plans for the A380-900. I know that.
I was just pointing it out.

That's probably a wide-body or international gate.

I not sure if they are preping the narrowbody gates for the 'NEW' United planes. A320, A319, etc.

I don't think they need to. Most narrowbody gates include the A320 family because of it's popularity. However, if all of the CO gates are customized for their planes only, then I suppose they would not have included them.

The A320 uses United's gates at EWR anyway, so there's really no issue.

I'm saying that the United A320s will probably still be using United's gates at EWR for quite some time, which most likely have A320 markings.

I like how there are only three closed bucket cabs in that sea of open buckets. I bet the deicers race like hell in the mornings to get to them first.

Thanks for the pics. I go to IKEA just to watch the EWR action. All I can say is that most of the traffic is ERJ-145's with a few heavies in between and endless stream of the jungle jets....
