Not quite 150mm. The Canon SX30IS' 35x zoom has a magnification equivalent to 24-840mm in terms of an SLR lens. That is a lot of zoom!

These shots are amazing Carlos. Especially like the LH shots just like Orion.

Nice photos! Unfortunately I don't get to see too much of KMIA, but definitely a lot of KFLL.

Liking the Bahamas Air 732 further up the thread. A friend of mine from Scotland designed the livery for them, as you can see they didn't really have a design budget.

Taca hading back home in Central America...

One of many daily Delta MD88s into MIA...

an AA MD80 at MIA... is incredibly rare to see those around here... (except for the one at George T. Baker) because since 2004 no AA MD80s have flown into MIA in a regular schedule... this one in particular was bound for KORD...

my first time catching this beauty

"Rosalia de Castro" is the second oldest A340 on Iberia's fleet... as you can see, it needs a new paint job! the orange stripe is all worn out...fortunately, Rosalia is scheduled for a repaint before the end of the year

"Capt. Marlon Green" heading back home

and to finish... AA903 bound for Caracas with the last light of the day...

How far do you live away from the airport?
I live about 40 mins drive away from my airport but I can practically get to my spot from my doorstep via public transport.

First, a delayed Speedbird landing on Rwy 12

Right after the Speedbird, landed this lufty A330 from DUS

And after the LH, this Air Berlin A330 proceeded to take off, pretty unusual to see an Europe-bound jet taking off from this runway

Double shot!!! For Peter ; D

Close-up!

Hmm... it's not the same without Winglets...

Copa bound for Panama

I've FINALLY Caught the Lufthansa A340 bound for MUC!

Gotta have to catch it in the summer when there's enough light at that time! (: but at least I'll be able to catch it.. along with the Iberia A343 from Barcelona that arrives at a similar time, but unlike the TAP A330... which arrives at 2105

I wish we could get only 10% of all these DC/MD airframes. The DC-8 looks delicious.

Holy crap Carl! You got some talent man! I seen shots taken with the SX30 IS on forums and they sucked because the owners didn't know how to use it, but you, wow! I'd like to see you with a Canon 7D and a 500F/4L IS :P. My favorites are the Siwss A332, LH 744 (various shots) and much more than I cannot list!

You seem to have lot's of time to be spotting and great weather plus luck!

I am not sure if this is too much noise or if the quality is just worse but I would reduce noise or stay at ISO200 next time. The shot is a killer anywho:

Not sure if you have a flickr account but post them there! Stay with Canon

Default Re: KMIA Spotting

Great photos! Do you still spot at KMIA? I just got a D7000 and started shooting recently.
