Default Karachi Spotting - May 16

Yet another evening of spotting at Karachi - the flights were few and far between. Thankfully, the weather was more forgiving that it had been last time, with a light breeze making the heat more bearable.

Arriving from Colombo...

The Saudi 777 from Jeddah was not particularly exciting until this pigeon decided to show the bigger bird how its done. With the way its wings are spread, both seem to be on short finals.

The sun going down at about 7:00 meant that we had plenty of light for the Thai arrival at 6:30pm.

One bogey touches down in a puff of smoke while one still lingers in the air.

Late evening departure, this majestic beast lines up on 25L before departing in a cloud of dust.

A surprise late evening arrival from Istanbul, ACT Cargo A300B4 Freighter

A nice and very smoky touchdown by Shaheen Air B737

To be fair, the pigeon was in the foreground and hence appears to be bigger than it actually is

The touchdown zone is approximately 700-800 meters away (I think) from where we shoot, so this was the best I could get from my 300mm lens. I am considering moving up to something bigger, maybe 100-400 or something.

I'm so glad you got that gorgeous THAI A330-300. Hope to someday be on it. (They've been doing the BKK-KHI-MCT v.v route for years now!!)

100-400 L could be a great lens for this distance and it can bring very good quality photos in the normal condition. Hope to see more pics from u Hassan.
