Default Madrid-Caracas on Iberia A346 + cockpit landing

ok so here is a review of the flight I did yesterday, IB6701 from MAD to CCS, and all i can say is that it was the best flight I've ever had!!!!! i was travelling alone, so I got a VIP treatment from the Iberia staff, the FAs were very professional and friendly with everyone, always smiling, and some of them were hot blondies!!! hehehe we departed on time and we had no turbulence, the food was the best I've ever seen on a plane!! very delicious!!!... but the best part of the flight was definitelly when I showed my drawings to the FAs and one of them invited me to go to the cockpit, I was amazed!!!! all i said was "OMG please, pleaseeee!!!!" hehehe, so she took me to the cockpit and I met the pilots, they told me about how the plane works and they saw my drawings, they were amazed with them!! then the FA came again to tell me that she has to go back to work, so I went back to my seat... later when there were like 20 minutes before landing in CCS, one of the FAs who was serving the business plus cabin came and told me with a smile "take all your stuff and follow me" I was like "hmmm, ok!" haha I didn´t knew where she was taking me, but I didnt really care, I thought that since I was a minor travelling alone, she was taking me to a seat close to the door so we dan disembark before the all passengers, but no.. we passed the economy class, we entered into Business and i thought "oh my god, are they upgrading me to business?" but nope, then we passed the business and I we entered to the cockpit again!!! that was totally unexpected!!!! the FA said to the pilots "here he is" haha then I sat on the jumpseat and they told me to fasten my seatbelt, then the copilot asked me "have you ever done this before?, pretty exiting, eh?" haha I said "yeah but on a Baron 55, not on the world´s longest plane!!!" hehe! then we turned ans started the final approach... I was so amazed!! was like a dream came true! ... the pilots landed the powerful A340-600 and we taxied to gate 23, everyone disembarked and we left the cockpit, before I left the plane, the FA who took me to the cockpit told me that I was very talented and that I will see that all my dreams will come true!.. she told me that I was a wonderful kid and that when i get older, Iberia would be proud to give me a very good job!! I thanked her so much and told her that I would be proud to be part of Iberia!!

gracias Iberia for giving me the best flight of my life!!

Carlos, you will remember this trip for the rest of your life. What an exciting experience. Times have changed. I flew United from ORD-LAX when I was 8 and they gave me a pencil box. You sir, got the golden ticket!

Great pics and a great story! Thanks for sharing it!

Oh my god!!! I just realized that the plane I was travelling on (EC-JFX) had an incident at Quito in 2007!! no one was hurted, but it could have ended like the other A346 that had an accident in Quito!!

Congrats on the best flight ever! These type of stories are why most of us (kids) decide to stay involved with commercial aviation in some way.
Thanks for posting all the nice pics as well~

Very Very cool. About a year ago I had the chance to speak to the pilots on an airTran flight from ATL to MCO. After talking for a couple of minutes they decided to move my entire family up to Business. It was neat, and I can't even imagine what you were thinking when they invited you into the cockpit! BTW, the interior of the A346 is hideous, looks like a LCC, which is what IB has evidently turned into.

Wow thats great, thats awesome. I was lucky enough to do that back in 1995 on an AA A300 SJU-JFK. I got to sit on the jumpseat for departure, taxi, take off, final descent and for landing, the pilot was a friend of ours That is why I LOVE AA A300's!!!!!!!! not mention I have flown on over 50 of them. I have pictures but with a film camera haha no digital cameras back then. What I remember fondly is that the A300 is POWERFUL!!! It was a completely full flight and full of cargo, we were close to max thrust on that take off. I will miss the A300 I am going to try to fly on one before they retire. Come on Gemini make a 1:200 of this beauty!!

haha that´s pretty cool!!!! sadly it´s pretty hard to find a business seat on this flight, it´s always FULL!!!! otherwise, probavly they would upgrade me to it! hehe about how I was when they invited me to the cockpit, it´s an unexplainable feeling, It was so coool!!!!!! ... yes I know that the interior, I know, it looks awful, but the FAs and the Pilots told me that for next year they´ll have PTVs, and even mood lighting!!!

wow.... thats an awesome experience... Iberia seem to be a real warm and friendly airline to do that for you

I used to love visiting the cockpit on flights as a kid.... its a real shame that recent events in the world have made the oppurtunity to visit the best office in the world few and far between.

Just a quick thought.... will the crew be ok in your pics? If heard stories about carriers disciplining crew who allow cockpit visits?

Great story and pics

thanks Connor!!! yes It´s a Pitty that now it´s almost imposible to do something like this... this crew was the most picture-friendly I´ve ever seen!!! looks at picture #2, the picture of the row 34, when I was taking it, an FA passed by my side and accidentally she (well, her booty, actually haha) appeared in the picture, and she said "ohhh, sorry, my bad!! can you take it again?" it was something you can´t expect from every FA.... also, when I was in the cockpit, one of the pilots asked me if I wanted a pic of me in the cockpit, he said that he can take it for me!! haha and he did!!

haha great, you are so lucky to have been able to be in the cockpit for the approach and landing. Even when taxiing!

You lucky little pendejo!

That is so awesome to hear a postive trip report and an airline that has actually done something good for once! Iberia seems to be an airline that is good towards enthusiasts. My spotter friend Santiago was able to get an IB A346 to himself for photography purposes, courtesy of the Captain.

That has to be one of the coolest stories I have ever read! Very exciting!! Certainly an experience you will never forget. You must have been floating on a cloud for quite sometime after the flight.

Got that on two BA '757s, landing at Heathrow, taking off from Heathrow and then landing at Zurich in 1999.

About that dog, I didn't know you could take pets in the cabin with you. Or is that just in the UK??

People do it on our flight all the time. As long as they're in the approved carriers and can fit under the seats, then they are good to go.

at least on Iberia you can take even 2 dogs with you in the cabin... the guy who was seated next to me had 3 dogs in the plane, one with him, other one in the rear cabin with his wife, and the other one in the cargo hold becouse they didn´t let them board with 3 dogs in the cabin.. haha
