Hey,
What US Carrier operates the most 777s?

Which US Carrier operes the most 777s on short route flights?

United has about 60 in their fleet, followed by American (about 50), Continental (18 if I'm not wrong) and Delta (must be 12).

Arrow Mainly long-haul

Continental only uses their 777s for long-haul flights to Europe and Asia (e.g to LGW, CDG, NRT,..... and I think only from EWR and IAH), while the others mainly use them on most of their long-haul routes, but also on a few domestic routes, i.e UAL sometimes uses them between SFO and DEN and Delta uses some 777s from ATL to Florida.

United uses their original 777s (not their 777-200ER's or IGW's or whatever they are) on hi-density domestic routes; I also know that American uses 777-200ER's from the US West Coast to Tokyo. AA also uses 777s on hi density domestic routes.

I think Delta has about 7 (777's) and flies them between ATL and MCO, possibly the shortest route.

Are you sure about that? I'm pretty sure they use the B767s. I think only United operates the only B777s into PHNL.

Yeah, I think AA uses smaller stuff to HNL...they fly 757s from SJC-PHNL and Kona.

well I flew on one from DFW to Hawaii, although it has been a number of years so who knows ..

UA has 61 777s, AA has 45, CO has 16, and DL has 8.

AA currently uses the 777s on the following routes:

JFK, ORD, BOS, MIA, LAX to LHR
JFK, DFW, SJC, ORD to NRT
JFK, MIA to GRU, with the JFK flight continuing on to GIG
MIA to EZE
DFW to LGW
MIA to SCL
DFW to ORD
DFW to LAX
DFW to MIA
MIA to LAX
BOS to SDQ
DFW to FRA

AA used to use the 777 to CDG, ZRH, KIX and TPE. The CDG and ZRH routes are now operated with 767-300ERs.

All AA Hawaii flights are flown with either 767-300ERs or 757s.

And of course, sometimes operational needs or mechanicals mean the 777s may show up on routes they don't normally fly- sometimes during the peak seasons, AA flies the 777 from JFK to SJU and SDQ, or MIA to SDQ. And then there are charters.

They also use them from ATL to LGW, CDG, and during the summer months to FCO, FRA, DUB, and SNN. Sometimes its flights from the CVG hub to LGW, CDG and FRA are also operated with 777s. The ATL-NRT flight will soon be a 777, if it isn't already, as the last of DL's MD-11s are retired.

I have been at or nearby SJC in the early evening and I have seen an AA 777 at the gate...I went into Terminal A one night when I saw it and I couldn't figure out where it was headed. The AA flight from NRT arrives at 10am and the flight to NRT leaves at 12.30pm or so...do you know where the unknown 777 goes to?

There was probably a MX issue. How long ago did you see it?

MCO is a divert airport for AA's 777s and we do see them frequently in the summer months when MIA gets it's daily pimp slap by mother nature.

Delta sends their 777s here daily, about 4 flights from ATL, but I hear those will be changing over to 764s.

CO brings in an occasional 777, usually equip swap if something in EWR breaks, we get 2 or 3 flights from EWR and IAH featuring 764s or 762s.

British Airways uses a 777 for it's daily run between MCO and LGW.

Alitalia is planning to start MCO service in April, will either be 763, or 777.

No, it's on the list I posted, just under MIA to SCL, as DFW to ORD. Obviously, it's a round trip, and the flight is also flown in the opposite direction.

I am not sure if this is a regular route or not, but I flew on an AA 777 from Dallas to Miami. I guess it must be a high density route for AA, because I would not think such a big bird would be needed on such a short flight.
