Spent the day at FRA's runway 18 and was rather surprised when VW appeared for the take off.
Here's my picture of her coming down the 18 for Xiamen.

Flight number was LH99.. which is a typical "special" flight number (traing, maint, storage...) - I remember they do have a maint facility at XMN, right? Do you have any more details on this?

By 'Taufnamen', you mean original registration, correct? It's great to see the B 747-400 back in the air, and additionally, I like it in the previous livery, and not repainted. Maybe Lufthansa put a halt to repainting in the new livery for the moment to save money during the pandemic? Anyway, it's great to see Lufthansa giving the -400 another run, Doug

Taufname would be "Wolfsburg" in case of D-ABVW which is perfectly fitting the registration. Volkswagen (VW) is based at Wolfsburg

AFAIK, Lufthansa's airframes are to receive their new livery whenever they are due for a major overhaul which would require a repainting anyways. Given that this takes place all six years or so (correct me if I remember that incorrect) it'll be some more time until the old colors disappear. I take it some of the A350 will be the last to receive the new paint.

Not sure about VW and when it will be repainted. But its destination Xiamen is where they do not only overhaul but also repaint...
