Default Normality at ATL

I just got back from a trip to Colorado. It was the first time I've flown in a year. The concourses were packed at 8PM on a Wednesday night and it was so great to see all the gates filled with plenty of people ready to board. The only thing that really cracked me is up is when we got to Denver. The airport trains were full and I didn't even make the first one. I squeezed in on the second one and we were practically shoulder to shoulder. The PA announcement as the doors were closing was, "Please maintain physical distancing." I really had a laugh about that one.

I looked into getting on an earlier flight on the way back. It was completely full, a 767-400 too.

It'll never be the same without the Maddogs.
I remember staying at the Renaissance Concourse hotel and having MD80 after MD80 going into full reverse right in-front of my hotel room. Good times.

Yeah, I agree. I remember last year when they kept coming out one by one to ferry to Blytheville, Arkansas. It's a shame they didn't keep one for the museum. They kept one of the DC-9-50's. I appreciate them keeping a DC-9 but those -50's were all with Northwest. They certainly didn't have a 30 year history with Delta.

Real tomato ketchup Eddie?
Nothing but the best! "I don't know why they call this stuff hamburger helper. It does just fine by itself, huh? I like it better than tuna helper myself, don't you, Clark?"

Agree to disagree. I think ATL is very easy to navigate. I have been to DTW before as well.

I work for a Delta Connection carrier, and have been based in both DTW and ATL now. Each airport has strengths and weaknesses. I love DTW’s tall spaces, wide hallways/walking areas, and tall windows (minus the dots!). However DTW is limited with food options, especially in the B/C concourses. That side of the airport is also understaffed, leading to waiting for gates and parking crews. Too long of a story to explain why that is here.

Meanwhile ATL has tons of food options, and is very efficient for its size. However, its low ceilings and narrow hallway design in most terminals leads to crowding and a feeling of being cramped. (The E and especially the newer F terminal are beautiful though). The train has been packed lately during the evening banks to the point of missing them. Some nights I just walk now to let the trains empty some before hopping aboard.

Both airports are suffering from understaffing, leading to long lines for food. With all that said, I’d take these beautiful hubs over United and American’s dumpster fires any day!

I was tempted to leave the door open one night, but I like my undisturbed sleep too much.
Wish I stayed there for a few more nights, was hoping to catch 90% of DL's active mad dogs.

Well at least there's the Mad Dog MD-95s--for now.

We tried to eat dinner at whatever is at the middle of B opposite of PF Changs. We went up there and there were so many people just standing around waiting for the hostess. It looked like they had plenty of tables but I heard the hostess tell someone it would be a 20-30 minute wait so we said screw that. We went down to Bobby’s Burgers instead. They had no wait and we were seated pretty quickly. I thought it was pretty ridiculous at the first place. You would think an airport sit down restaurant would be mindful of people trying to get seated or at least be put on a list quickly. You could tell it was a cluster.
