Classic Airline Magazines Pt3: Airline Quarterly
Recently the purchase of a bulkload of aviation magazines unearthed a title I wasn't aware of, Airline Quarterly, that appears to be a forerunner in style of later mags like Airliners, Airways and Airliner World. Is anyone familiar with this magazine from the 70s:

Hi Richard,
Your "Yesterday's Airlines" on the subject was an excellent read. It made me look back into the old airline enthusiast and industry trade magazines that I had acquired over the years. I first became aware of Airline Quarterly when I attended the 2004 Airliners International show in Los Angeles. Over a period of time, I purchased seven of their magazines. But, I found one magazine in my collection that I reckon would be a forerunner, although very short-lived. It is a Spring 1974 edition of Airliners International by Kalmbach Publishing, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Their first issue was dated Summer 1973, and the last issue was Winter 1974. Picture attached. |
Re: Classic Airline Magazines Pt3: Airline Quarter
I was just going through my old Smithsonian, Flying, Airliners, etc.. the other day while dusting in my man-cave. Grabbed a bottle of wine, sat on the floor, and reminisced:sad:
It was a good reminder of why I got into this hobby/career in the first place. The Flight Path Learning Center/Museum on the south side of LAX has most of these collections going back to the beginning in their library and, although not generally open to the public, a little schmoozing can get you in there. Once spent 7 hours going through books and magazines until Ethel kicked me out at closing time. Merry Christmas, y'all! |

"Until Ethel kicked me out at closing time." Good stuff.:D It's like the school librarian of old. You don't know about her personal life and you don't want to know about it. |
