American Announces Last MD-80 Flight
Newsroom - American Airlines Announces Schedule of Final MD-80 Revenue Flights - American Airlines Group, Inc.

For those who haven't seen yet, American announced the final schedule of their MD-80s today. The last revenue flight will be AA80 on 4 Sept from DFW-ORD.

Unfortunately the flight was sold out immediately (I'm assuming tickets will be going to employees with some being auctioned off like UA did with their 747 farewell.)

A little sad to see it won't be stopping in STL given the massive Mad Dog presence at Lambert with TWA. As a consolation, the last STL-DFW flight will be the same day, numbered AA1999, which is the final year that TWA received an MD-80 delivery into its fleet.

Love them or hate them, it is certainly the end of an era.

News like this always makes me sad. I hate seeing an era stop. Fuel sipping twins is the reality of today.

Great to ride up front, not so much in the back but any plane that helps eliminate middle seats is good to me.

I’m glad to see they’re doing something to recognize it. Sure, it’s not like retiring The Queen but it’s nice to see it’s not just a small mention that it’s something like an out and back to TUL.

Ah, the DC-9 Series 80 as she was originally called. Sad to see it go.

Re: American Announces Last MD-80 Flight
The demand to fly on that, FAR exceeds the number of seats.
