Thank you, in honesty there is very little zoom used for that shot. the taxiway was very very close.

One of the last times we saw this Gorgeous plane at Pearson. Now we have her memorialized in both 1:200 and 1:400 scale.

Snapshots. Passing through FRA yesterday. A world stage for airliners - pure choreography, but not so much for pax - run to find your gate. I'd still do it everyday given the chance, Doug

She's a beautiful work of art. I'm so happy that she will be preserved and cared for. I also like how Qantas has placed some GSE at her side. Keeps the Queen company. Thanks for sharing!

Pass in Review... Taken last Tuesday out the window of our CityLine Star Alliance liveried A340-300 at FRA as we taxied out to the active runway. Love the Condor liveries. Great flight, and good to be back home in Ole Flori-duh. Doug

Disclaimer - this image has been posted on DA.C previously. OK, Tony - this image of flight attendants representing the initial airlines which contracted to buy the 747 was an exercise here on DA.C about 10 years (plus, minus) ago. With lots of help from members, we were able to identify the FA's airlines, with the exception of one (far left). Her airline still remains a mystery. Later, Doug

For the life of me, I can't identify that particular uniform.

Digging around on a.net, Wiki, and per the photo, I found the original tentative 747 customers. Here is the list that was given:

*=cancelled
**=delayed

AA (American Airlines),
AC (Air Canada),
AF (Air France),
AI (Air India),
AS (Alaska Airlines)*,
AZ (Alitalia),
BA (British Overseas Airways Corporation),
BN (Braniff International Airways),
CO (Continental Airlines),
DE (Condor),
DL (Delta Air Lines),
EA (Eastern Air Lines),
EI (Aer Lingus),
IB (Iberia),
IR (Iran Air),
JL (Japan Airlines),
LH (Lufthansa),
LY (El Al),
NA (National Airlines),
NH (All Nippon Airways),
NW (Northwest Airlines),
PA (Pan American World Airways),
QF (Qantas)**,
SA (South African Airways),
SK (Scandinavian Airlines),
SN (Sabena),
SR (Swissair),
SV (Saudia),
TP (TAP Air Portugal),
TW (Trans World Airlines),
WA (Western Airlines)*,
WD (Wardair),
UA (United Airlines),
(Universal?)

Perhaps by deductive reasoning, we can find out which ones are left out of the photo and go from there?

OK, Tony - the expanded list of F/As helps. There is another image around showing all those ladies pictured in the rollout image lined up again on a specially rigged stand next to the plane each ready to break their own bottles of champagne to christen the plane - there are a few open places at the end. Anyway, obviously not all of your listed airlines were represented that day (September, 1968). So, I'll rejoin this project once again, but only when there's nothing else to do... Also, this image is available from the Boeing archives in hi-res for $50 - thanks, but no thanks, Doug

Thanks for the picture. It's something beyond fantastic!

Thank you for that invaluable information! So the photo was indeed taken of Concorde at least at supersonic speed. Amazing.

For those of you interested in Alaska Airlines, here is a photo of the original logo, as well as the Inupiat Eskimo named Oliver Amouak featured on the tail of the fleet.

I found the logo on Alamy and had to take off those ridiculous watermarks. They don't own the rights to most of their photos so I can't fathom how they get away with charging you for their use. Yay Photoshop. The history lesson of Oliver I found on a website. You can immediately see the identical resemblance. Even his coat became part of the finished logo. Enjoy.

Very nice find. IIRC Alaska had 3 different liveries for awhile. The Eskimo, a totem pole, and a gold miner. I'll have to search around for those.

I forgot one. They had four liveries, the one I missed was the Russian Spires.

"The Eskimo first appeared in 1972, when Alaska adopted a four-logo paint scheme – a totem pole, to represent the native culture of Southeast Alaska; a gold miner, to represent the booming gold rush days in Alaska; Russian spires, to represent early Russian heritage in the state of Alaska; and a native Alaskan adorned in a traditional qulittaq (parka with ruff) to represent the Arctic region and its people. Indigenous Alaskans in the Arctic, traditionally of Inupiat or Yupik descent, commonly refer to themselves as Eskimo."

Wow. I totally forgot about the totem pole livery. That's definitely one that I would love to add to my Eskimo Inflight200. Thanks for the extra information.

Love those Yugoslavian DC-10s. That is sorely missing in my collection.
