Default Mystery 747 at Kona (KOA)

My wife and I were on holiday on the big island of Hawaii, and I noticed an unusual 747 parked in the private aircraft area of the airport. The entire week we were there (Sept 29-Oct 4, 2018), the plane never moved.

It had black Arabic writing on the fuselage, and a small black flag-like shape on the tail. Other than a red cheat line, the fuselage was entirely white.

Anyone have any idea who owns this aircraft? Pretty expensive way to travel, if its a private plane.

Sorry I didn't take any photos.

a little more information would help..was it a 400, 800, SP??

Most likely one of many planes in the Dubai Royal Air Wing fleet..
Their fleet can be seen just about anywhere. I saw the A320 in Miami a short time ago...

Thanks for the reply. It was a -400, and upon second thought, I'm beginning to doubt my memory regarding the cheat line. I think the fuselage was actually completely white, with large Arabic lettering. It was very visible from the main highway, which is what attracted our attention in the first place. The lettering was very large and as a result much more obvious than that as shown in the Google photos of the Dubai Royal Air Wing planes, and was on the main part of the fuselage, starting where the 747's hump ends. And the "flag" (if that is what it was) on the tail was a black shape, rectangular, but with a serrated edge, like a flag torn by the wind. The "flag" had no detail (at least any that was visible from the distance I was looking, which was from the road, outside the fenced compound), it was just a black rectangle to my eyes. The "flag" was also quite small, in comparison with the size of the flags on the tails of the Dubai planes as shown in the Google images. The engines had covers on them, and the 747 was parked with several smaller business jets around it.

I think you are right! The Ironman competition was the next week (and in fact they were setting up the official tent in the entranceway to our hotel as we left), and the athletes were on their bikes, training on the highway the entire week we were there. I don't remember the "flag" on the 747's tail being red, but the distance we were looking (and my old eyes) may be responsible for that. Thank you, I believe this mystery has been solved.
