Default My revisit to KLM B747-206B(M)SUD PH-BUK

Hey all

On September 18, 2020 my dad & I did a revisit at the Aviodrome in Lelystad, The Netherlands:

So here some nice photo's I made when I was there:

Always good to see a real B747 classic in the classic KLM/Northwest Livery, she did look faded tho :X

Biggest diecast B747 I ever took pics of and yea being a real one of course, always feels amazing to come this close to such an old classic, a very rare experience.

Nice belly shots I made here, glad these worked out

I also noted that this B747-206B(M)SUD has a red strobe light on the top of the tailfin, something I never seen on other B747's left alone our 1:200 models don't have this detail either.

here nice side shots I took, similar to the ones I do with my B747 models:

Interesting how KLM ordered their 747-200's, some SUD's or with the lounge on the top level. (3 windows).
Nice photos! Is there anyway to tell the difference between a 747-100/200SUD and a 747-300 externally?

Some cool photos!

Here the rest of the photo's

Thanks to the amazing sunny weather we had I was able to make photo's from every angle and get very good results, like these that I also use with my models

Note the Lockheed P2 Neptune up front and the B747-206B(M) SUD in the background, the sheer size of the B747 dwarfs everything else around it, the same for that Douglas DC-4 in the second pic:

here the B747-206B(M) SUD and the second pic shows a Polish Air Force MiG-21 Fishbed with a Swedish Air Force Saab JAS-37 Viggen

Here a Fokker F-27 Friendship with the classic NLM White Top Livery with the first Schiphol Terminal in the background which was also used for some takes of that series De Vliegende Hollander, which refers to Anthony Fokker himself this is also written on the sides of the KLM aircraft in English as The Flying Dutchman
Albert Plesman was the founder of KLM back in 1919, Anthony Fokker & Albert Plesman were the two that set the first steps for the Dutch Airline Service that became KLM.

Here a Fokker 100 aircraft the PH-OFA with the Air France /KLM Livery that was introduced in 2003 and used throughout 2020,this was Fokker's reaction to the Douglas DC-9

And there you have it pics were made on September 18, 2020, we had about 22 a 23 C and it was nice and sunny. normally the upper deck of the B747 was locked due to covid by dad & I got vip access to the upper deck, as owner of the Boeing 747 Community they got me access to the upper deck, someone else came up the stairs and was sent back down hehe.

Anyways enjoy the photo's, it was worth seeing this B747 again, just hope they do something about the paint fading.

All in all we made the best out of our day and stayed there for like 6 hours, a day well spent

Hey thanks, was fun being there, I'd happily go there again later this year

Externally maybe not so, even I do wonder what else would differ them tho internally maybe, improved avionics I would expect, but then again if a B747-200 doesn't have that you can always mod it in so it comes over to the same specs as the 300 series, this may be why that there were no more than 81 B747-300 built, real ones that is.

update.

the good news is that I found the date the photo's were made which was September 18, 2020, so I made edits for that
All thanks to the photo album of this I made at my Boeing 747 Community on September 19, 2020 the day after that great day saying I was there yesterday, just brilliant

All good now

Could be wrong, but my guess is that this may be something that was installed after they parked it here, to be used as an aviation navigation obstruction beacon (similar to what you would find on buildings or antenna towers), since that tail is pretty tall and is effectively a permanent structure now.
