I have a project in the form of a Handley Page 42 / 45.

Can anyone tell me the colors of the registration marks and titles on the fuselage when these aircraft were used by Imperial Airways ?

From black and white photos, we can guess they were black, but some of them seem to show a slightly lighter shade, the might have been blue …

According to publicities reproduced in REG Davies' "British Airways The Imperial Years" and other pictures I found on the net, it looks like many aircraft of the era, including the HP.42, had medium to dark blue titles and registration. But others show them black.

I guess it will be hard, if not impossible, to find colour pictures from this era. Good luck with your HP.42, that's an aircraft I'd love to have in my collection !

I have found a very nice photo which has been colored, too beautiful to be real …

By the way, I have a Wibault 283 T in kit form and right now, I am working on a Potez 621.
