Good for Boeing. I'm guessing they are probably freighters.

That is great that they have some more orders for this iconic aircraft - it would be a great shame to see its production ended - but business is business

I'm hoping it was Atlas to replace the 744s. Would love to see more 8s at CVG.

Wishful thinking. Been told Atlas really likes the 744 for shorter routes.

I wish KLM had ordered some B747-8I jets but it seems LH is the only European carrier that fly's them so far...

Yes, I was hoping KLM would be a customer, too. I'm hoping next year to fly a 747 on both KLM and Virgin Atlantic before the two airlines remove them from service. It has been difficult finding a U.S. city that Virgin flies 747s in and out of these days. I've tried SFO, LAX, JFK and Virgin services those cities with the 787.

This is great news, however, will these be new production orders or filled by 748's already produced and not taken up (delivered)?

Looks like VS still has 747s from Las Vegas and Orlando to Gatwick.

So, one way LAS upper class (and including Seattle air fare) is $7,480 and is a 10-11 hour trip. One way MCO upper class (again, including Seattle air fare) is $6,600 and is a 13 hour trip.
