Default American / TWA retro jet is here

My opinion? I think it sucks ! Leave it to American to screw TWA and it employees once again ! If you are going to do a TWA-retro jet, at least get the color of the aircraft right !

As I mentioned on other forums: "Why is it grey????????". I agree,a grey AirCal is not going to work.

Most American Airlines PAX boarding this aircraft will scratch their heads - won't have a clue. Lame exercise. Later, Doug

Unfortunately, AA is 0-2 when it comes to the introduction of the 'retro jets' they proposed several months ago. With AirCal the remaining jet, I have to say that I am pretty disappointed with the outcome on these aircraft......and the fact they didn't paint the fuselages white.

The Reno Air tail looks OK,but that is definitely it. I am not even excited about the AirCal. Not to be negative, but it is likely it will be a similar attempt as the first two?

I agree, having these retros in the base color of their new livery is unfortunate. It should definitely be white. Surprisingly the TWA in the red block on the tail is white.

But then AA did not even get the titles or the logo correct on the their own retro 737-800 Astrojet in the early 2000's.

If AA can not do retros correctly, don't do them.

I wonder if an argument would break out amongst non aviation enthusiasts where someone claims they saw a TWA plane at the airport and another says they are long out of business!

Yeah, but non-enthusiasts probably wouldn't know what TWA was... Later, Doug

I think it would have looked much better if they had written American in the old Trans World font.

It looks like a very half-hearted attempt. But then the entire new American livery is ghastly IMHO.

Completely disagree with these comments. The retro delivery is fine; it captures the TWA design and doesn't need to be white to do this. I vote YEA! Of course, opinions are what makes a forum go, right.

That's right - and I don't agree with your opinion.

Here's the last of AA retro-jets with AirCal now introduced.

I somewhat agree; this retro livery is better than none at all. But still, why not do it right and do it white?!? It's not like someone is going to be confused, and only recognize this is actually an American plane because of the grey color. I mean, it's spelled-out right there on the fuselage...

As a former AirCal/AA employee, I'm happy to see this logo flying again, but yeah, it would have been better on a white fuselage.
