Very sad to see it go but happy that people can still enjoy and admire the aircraft in a museum. We all knew Delta's phase-out was happening, but I'm surprised there hasn't been more fanfare about this, especially considering that this particular aircraft has so much significance and history. Whatever it is, I'm glad at least some of the major airlines have plans to continue using 747s for quite a while, and those that are starting retirement are, unlike Delta, giving it the sendoff it deserves.

I'm sure this will prompt a few model makers to produce this particular aircraft in multiple liveries.

Hi My Brother works for DELTA and is based in Atlanta, next to the DELTA Museum, having spoken to him last Sunday, he said there is a rumour that a B747 will be preserved at the museum out side, possibly this particular aircraft ???, fingers crossed.

Would be cool if they took it to the museum. But I dont think there is much more room for a plane this size over there to display unless they take away from some of the parking which is a premium over on that side.

Yep, that rumor has been floating around Delta's GO for the last several months!

It's not a rumor. Delta said it's going to the museum via their own press release.

Heres a pic of it sitting out in front of Deltas Hangar after its last flight.

Perhaps I should plan a trip to Atlanta sometime next year.

I second that. Especially in the original factory livery

I'd take the final delta colors and a northwest bowling shoe in 1/200 of this Aircraft.
