Default Qatar Airways FA passed out in front of building entrance.

Hmm. Something tells me that Qatar's Akbar al-Baker is not too happy with the bad press. However, over at Delta = Richard Anderson is having a good laugh today!

As they say, some people just can't handle their booze! Cheers! T7 (I hope she is not canned over this? But, something tells me that when you put Qatar Airways in a bad/embarassing situation = bye-bye!)

Yeah, I read this story yesterday. I, too, suspect this FA was given the ol' heave-ho.

Isn't that kind of a no-no since Qatar Airways operates out of a Muslim country? At the very least, it's pretty disrespectful of the culture.

What I don't understand is why the Qatar's VP had to send out a mass email to the whole company about the incident? The woman was not on duty so wouldn't this be some sought of a slander by the company?
Or am I thinking too much like a "westerner"?

She has a very understanding boss. Its a pity she has or will likely lose her job over this. She wasn't in uniform, she wasn't representing Qatar Airways. Maybe I am just ignorant to how things are done or what is considered unacceptable in other countries. Good thing the internet wasn't around in the 60's and 70's. A whole bunch of people would be out the door. I actually feel bad for her.

She would have been ended up in jail if she was found on street by the police. She is lucky.

True, but something tells me that she possibly hasn't had a good drink in a while = maybe 9 years or so? When she went out that night = she went ALL out which her system/body couldn't handle.

The Qatar VP was instructed by the Qatar CEO to send a message to their employees that this will definitely not be tolerated when you work at Qatar. There is no such thing as off-duty with this airline = you are not to 24/7 cause any embarassing moments that will cause any bad publicity for Qatar.

I hear ya and agree with your reply. Unfortunately, if she is staying at a Qatar facility then she is responsible for meeting specific guidelines/rules. I do believe being passed out on the steps of the Qatar building = is a major No-No. Hopefully this will not follow her when she applies to other airlines in the coming months.

Agreed. I am sure her co-workers had that in mind and were able to scoop her up in time before the authorities arrived.
