WOW! I really, really envy you! That airport is on my bucket list and you've captured some excellent and jaw dropping photos! How in the world did you capture the KLM 744 at eye level? That's an oustanding photo of big blue! Kudos to that beach shot of the KLM from a belly perspective. I saw a photo on A.net the other day with a beach shot of cruise passengers on the sand; there was such a huge crowd you couldn't see the beach anymore!! Thanks for sharing Jan! Much appreciated. T7

Fantastic photos, Jan! Thanks for sharing. I particularly like LIMA and DANGER. What lens did you use for the LIMA shot?

Thanks a lot It's worth a visit for sure! Not only the airport, but the island as well. I had a rented fisheye lens for my camera, my goal was to capture KLM that way I did
Yep, the Tuesday that KLM arrived there was no space for a shot on the beach! I barely got one myself because of so many PAX.

Beautiful! The AC 767 and DL 757 with the DANGER sign are my favorites. What kind of camera are you using?

I used the Canon 15mm f/2.8 fisheye. Splendid lens.

Great shots...only one issue: you're enjoying one of the best places on earth with the coolest aircraft through a tiny lens!

Hope you take a day without your camera to just enjoy the sites.

Nice photo work, Jan. Excellent composition and subject matter. Though, I'm not a big fan of HDR unless it's used in landscape photography. Too much of it makes the image look like an oil painting. But it does look good on some of these photos. Keep 'em coming.

Thanks Tony! No HDR here, just proper lighting and technique!

What terrific photos! I particularly like the close up KLM taxiing, and also the nose shot of the US Air, showing all the weathering on the nose and the somewhat wrinkled surface of the fuselage. And the first one, of the KLM overhead, is stunning. The KLM passing through the clouds is also a great photo. Please keep posting! You have an amazing talent.

Jan, I have to say it again, those are terrific shots. I particularly like the details (the worn fuselage, the chipped paint, the stains by the doors, the rust), and how several shots show the pilots peering through the windscreen, going about their business. Of the last three (KLM's City of Lima), the first and third show the plane today, while the second (if you use just a little imagination) could represent the plane as she was delivered to KLM, sparkling new, way back when.

Thanks guys!
It does actually get tiring after like 4 days, but the island is beautiful and easy to get around, especially with a rental car.
