Default First US Airways Aircraft Gets New American Colors

As the title says. Directly from facebook. The first US Airways Airbus A319-100 has been painted in the new American colors. I'm very excited to see a lot of the US Airways fleet especially the A330-200 and A330-300 in the American colors! There is a good list of aircraft in the US Airways/US Airways Express fleet that American didn't previously operate.

Previously N700UW wore the Star Alliance livery, so it makes sense it would be the first to get painted.

More for Gemini to produce! I think
Airbus wears the livery quite well. Will be cool to see A330s in the new American.

Looks good, I'm also keen to see a US 757 in the new scheme, especially as that is the type they operate into GLA over here. The A330's will look awesome too I think.

Yes for sure! I believe US has both winglet equipped and non-winglet equipped 757s running around still. I don't think they have very many left without, so I don't know if they'll even be painted before they add winglets. Or they could use the downtime for painting as the time they need to add them. Either way American is painting their planes systematically by type. Right now the Widebody and 737s are getting the fresh paint, so if that continues it could be a little bit before we see an American 757 painted. So we may get one sooner on the US side.

It'll also be interesting to see if they paint any of the US 767-200s in the new colors. I doubt it, but you never know. US still relies on them for international routes whereas American only uses them on the transcon routes that are now being replaced by the A321s. So the US 762s may need to stay in the fleet a little while longer, but probably not long enough to warrant a fresh coat of paint.

Looks great, I actually love this new livery. I will miss the old AA/US liveries, but it is time for change. I honestly don't know if any of the 757's will be painted in the new livery, probably though. Same with the US 767's, some are exiting the fleet this year but US/AA extended some of the leases for the US 767's, so some might stay for a couple of years. The only aircraft I am certain they probably won't paint are the US 737-400's and the AA MD80's.

I hope they paint at least one MD-80s in the new colors Something like Southwest did with the 737-200. We shall see with time though!

I have come to like the new AA livery and look forward to new diecast releases with the new scheme.

P.S. Bryce, the new animated gif in your signature block is very cool.

This makes me really sad. I've flown on US more than any other airline. I don't want to see that airline name go.

JFK seems to be getting mostly aircraft in the new livery, because it's a station with mostly widebodies, 738s, and now A321Ts. To see the new tails in a line-up is impressive. The A321T is rapidly taking over JFK-LAX as the 762s are retired, and passenger perception has been great, from what I've heard from co-workers who fly domestic, similar to the positive comments about the 77Ws to LHR and GRU.

Also anxious for GJ to do the A321T in 1/200, and especially the 77W, my current Holy Grail of models.

I fail to see the point in comments like this. How hard is it for people to keep comments like this to themselves... I don't think there is a thread on this forum anymore that doesn't have a post like this. If you want to talk about how much you hate the new AA livery then go start your own thread.

We get new schemed ERJ-145s, but that is all. Looking at the timetable you guys get MD-80s and CRJ-200s, so it may be awhile before you see a new liveried plane.

Well said, I suggested that too, even the thread I started for fans of the new livery was polluted with posters keen to tell us how their hearts had been ripped out by AA's betrayal of their beloved cheatline and eagle...

Those OO CRJ-200's started flying for Eagle just 2-months before the rebranding!.. I don't understand why they couldn't have just been painted all silver with the white tail like the 77W's did before the new brand.

Yeah I thought it was strange they painted those 200s in the old livery when everyone knew at the time that a new brand was coming very soon. I'm sure it was much deeper and more complex than meets the eye, but still. Who knows how long it'll take ExpressJet and SkyWest to re-paint them in the new livery. Once again I'm sure there are contract stipulations that define when the aircraft have to be repainted by, but seeing as they haven't been in the old colors very long I imagine they'll draw it out as long as they can.

I really don't think American's marketing department wanted to start giving hints about their new livery away on a bunch of 50-seaters flying for American Eagle. Besides, two months is a long time before officially unveiling their new corporate identity. Who knows what still needed to be ironed out with the new livery at that time?

So far so good at YYZ got all new livery come and go from Eagle's ERJ-175,135 CRJ 145, to Mainline 737 and A319...hoping one day 777-300 or 767 gets diverted to YYZ

I got a model from GJ & i hoped the airframe would prevail over it's livery, but it still reminds me of a shredded American flag.

It looks like it was shredded by a generic strip-cut shredder too, didn't even use the cross-cut or micro - cut. I think that would have looked better. Definitely not a fan of the new livery

Personally, i like the new American colors as they stand out on every airport! AA has used eye-catching colors on their new tail, a silver-flaked fuselage and a stylish 2014 eagle logo, what more can you ask for!?.. I guess some people have 'problems' with this livery, because AA never had terrible 90s interim schemes like e.g. Delta after their Widget, so it's a hard transition from the 70s/80s to 2014 and it seems that the retro-heads will never accept that times and styles improve and change.. Anyway, i had a few flights on the now old livery, so i will be happy to add another AA scheme to my personal list with new types of aircraft one day.. For me its always more sad to see identities like TWA, Northwest, Continental or now US Airways disappearing completely.. At least AA said that they want to keep US' retro birds and one on their final livery plus a future TWA retro.. That's unique and a great way i think..
