Default What's your favorite A310?

Yes, thats right, this is a poll to gauge what you plane geeks feel is the best A310 variant. You are not allowed to post unless you give a reason for your choice using no less than 20 words. You must also post a photo of your favorite A310 as well.

You are breaking your own rules :P Where are your reasons and the photo Billy ? hehe

I voted for 300 with GE due to the versatility the aircraft and engine variant offer. GE engines are reliable for many climates, work well with minimum "unplanned maintenances".

Although.. One thing I am not big fan of is the de-pressurization of A310s, Pretty much you can feel it happening and can be uncomfortable when landing in high humidity regions.

And here is the link to Iran Air A310 EP-IBK ( I have good memories on that bird)

Have flown on many many A310s in my life time. Not going to choose variant, it's just a great aircraft.

Rules are for guidance, I can't chose between KLM, Delta or Lufthansa which are the ones I flew on and I haven't got a clue what engines they had (neither do I care). I'm not going to post pictures either.

Although I do not think what I am about to show is my favorite A310 per-se, but for what it is, it has to be picked as my number 1:

British Caledonian A310-200. This brand new (at the time) aircraft in a seemingly ancient livery is just odd, in a very appealing way. Coupled with the very early GE engines, this aircraft design looks like it is being torn between old and new.

My favorite A310 is the Alpine A310.

While not known to have a V8 like many other sporty cars of the time, it does have a look that is undoubtedly hard to match.....

OH! You meant the Airbus A310.....

Then a A310-200 with GE engines. Can't go wrong with that, as it is a proven variant, and it like everything, it just looks great in the old Lufthansa Scheme (more planes need cheatlines these days...)

CTA- Very recognizable with its yellow wings at Newark Int'l many years ago. A gorgeous scheme....now long gone. Do have a 1/400 CTA fleet.

I've never seen an A310, nor and A300 in person.
I know the old GE CF-6's would sound good though! (assuming they're the same engines as those on classic 747's).

Different engine variant cowlings have different shapes.

See Bcal and Singapore pics.

I'm Not As Big A Fan Of The 310 Like I Once Was. I've Reduced My Liking To All Busses In General. I Only Like It Because On Aerobiz Supersonic It Has A Range Of 6,000 Miles And They Are Dirt Cheap To Buy. Only 42 Millonses.
The B Cal Is Nice Though, But Only Becuase Of The Livery. That Looks Nice On Anything...

I like these, because I've seen one at LAX.

It was pretty dirty, and it looked old. I find old airplanes charming.

I will pick the A310-308, as it has been the last A310 i took off with.. C-GFAT, what an appropriate reg.. I also like PIA's A310 in the current scheme very much as i see them quite often at FRA..

I hope that the pictures i took are accepted by the jury..

Err can someone list out what the differences are between the -200 vs -300?

Thanks.

Mine favourite A310's are TAP new livery (flew from LIS-LHR) and the iconic Royal Jordanian (flew from AMM - BOM)

Hi,

-200 vs -300 differences:
-200's had the option of early GE's
-200's (for the most part) did not have winglets
-300's have greater MTOW
-300's have additional fuel tanks
-300's have winglets
Both -200 and -300 had the option for PW's.

True, plus the -300 had a new designed tail with additional trim tanks. Most -200 have been retrofitted with wingtip fences, but the original -200 never had them. The same goes with the original A300B2/B4. The upgraded model, the A300-600 got the same features like the A310-300 and was the update of Airbus' original types. Compared to the B767 - the A312 would be a B767-200 and the A313 would be a B767-200ER..
