Default Unusual airlines at your airport

At PHX, Ive seen
Alitalia
Saudia
Korean Air
Qatar Airways.

Alitalia and Korean Air were at the airport's mechanical department getting fixed. Saudia and Qatar Airways were transporting government, IE, amiri flights, but I still count them as belonging to those airlines, since they had their livery and..anyways I want to! lol

At SJU, I saw a TWA 707 (or was it a DC-8) landing before TWA flew there. It was for a medical emergency as the newspaper reported the next day. Plus there was once a hijacked Alitalia DC-10 from Rome to Mexico City that landed at SJU but I could not see that one in person. Oh and the Pope's Alitalia plane too, but again I did not egt to see that in person either.

How about you??

We get the Antonov 225 and 124 at East Midlands (amongst other interesting cargo aircraft). Now I have moved down south, I saw the Russian government TU-154 a few weeks ago on final approach to Heathrow

Had a Miami Air 738 at SBA for a charter. Not much compared to previous posts, but unusual where I normally get assorted regionals.

Due to our close proximity to JFK and Newark BOS has frequent unusual visitors due to bad weather. I unfortunately have only seen one diversion, a Delta 767-300 (Skyteam livery) which diverted from JFK but we've received numerous other carriers in the past!

We get the occasional Boeing test flight doing a touch and go here at GEG. I've scene the 787, 748F, and the Dreamlifter (before it was painted) come through prior to their certifications. When I was a kid I also got to see an AN-124 at MWH.

Yes, I have been spotting vicariously through others on YouTube, A.net, JP.net and Flickriver.com and have come up with:

• Garuda A333 PK-GPE
• Singapore 744 9V-SPP
• Etihad A345 A6-EHA
• SAS A333 SE-REF
• Russian AF IL-76 RA-78845

Always fun to see what will show up.

Here at BDL, we get diversions from the NYC area. Such notable ones (Diversions and non diversions) include:
Air Force 1
Airbus A380
Boeing 747-8
Virgin Atlantic A340-600
Jet Airways 777
American 777
American 767-300
Emirates A380
and others I can't think of at the moment.

At KSAW
-Air Force 1
-Miami Air 737-800
-An-124 came last summer
-An IL-78. Very bizzare, it seems that it was stolen by a group of Ukrainians from a base in Texas and stopped here on the way overseas for fuel. Still sitting here sine 2009. Here is a link to the story: Intrigue Idles Soviet-Era Plane in Michigan - WSJ.com

The oddest I've seen at YJT was probably a Kulula 737. We occasionally get AN-124s and on very rare times an IL-96, and diversions every now and then, but nothing much else.

That is a very intriguing story.

When I was a kid my favorite was the Air China 747SP, although that is not an unusual airline for LAX.

I think most recently I've seen ATI DC-8s at PDX.

Oh ok. Delta has really downscaled their Canada ops. That could be since they overtook Northwest and so now they have strong connections from Minnesota and Seattle, maybe they think people can drive to Canadian markets from there? I know thats a whole new topic right there, but when you do think about it, Delta's Canada reductions came after 2008 and so it makes me wonder...

Back to the topic, I do also know of a Cathay Pacific Cargo Boeing 747 once landing at Aguadilla, but I was not there myself to see it in person...

Yes I've seen some nice things at Prestwick before, including the AN 225 and a VC-10 making a very rude noise indeed!

Nothing strictly unusual about that probably, but its one of these places where, when its quiet, its dead, but when its remotely busy, it can be brilliant!

Oh yeah, and Royal Air Maroc once landed one of their 767s at SJU, but again I was not there....not to mention United Airlines' incident at San Juan's other airport, Isla Grande, where a pilot on December 21, 1992, mistakenly landed a United 757 there!!!

At ROA we get mostly regional jets and an allegiant md-88 as well as delta a319. Airforce 1 does a lot of practicing touch and goes though. Occassionally we see some USAF C-17's and fighter squadrons. V-22's have started coming around recently.

I'm from upstate NY that has small airport....these are exotic airplanes from the past.
Note:The "Boys from Syracuse" used to fly F16 Falcons on training missions there. Now it has become a drone base and the F16's are now long gone.

•Modern Air (blk/orange) Convair 990 at SYR - mid seventies
•American Airlines DC-10 at SYR - mid seventies - familiarization flights to LGA. I rode the flight twice. (My parents treated me as I was in middle school with a paper route).
•United Airlines 747 Friendship at SYR - late seventies - charter to Hawaii
• Flying Tiger DC-8-63 - daily evening rotation - late seventies.

For a small airport, this was big news back then. Today the largest commercial aircraft scheduled is an MD-80. There is however, a DHL A300 and 757 rotation on occasion. The majority of ac now are all ERJ/CRJ and an odd Mitsubishi flying air taxi service.

Not an airliner, but in April 2012, VP Biden came to SBA. AF2 had a run-in with a bird...The accompanying C-17 was one of the bigger jets seen at SBA of late.

I can certainly appreciate that. Back in the mid-90's UPS Aviation had purchased (and since divested) a local company for the purpose of implementing and refining GPS. They had a couple of unmarked 727s here (KSLE) and man were those things ever loud.. My office is near the airport and it shook all the windows. It was a big deal for aviation geeks.

The biggest thing we've seen since was the short-lived SkyWest CRJ service to Salt Lake City, and the occasional Sun Country MAC flight.
