Default Hainan 7976 - Bizzare flight pattern - Jun 25, 6:12pm

I was just watching the departures out of Rwy 33R this evening, June 25 and noticed the Hainan 7976 flight to Beijing depart around 5:43pm and then half an hour later saw it take this bizzare pattern. Not sure what is happening with the flight? . Looks like it is circling as there is a rush of arrivals on 33L right now.

6:12pm

6:20pm

6:31pm

6:35pm

6:44pm

Traffic landing on 33L

7:02pm. Now at 5975 ft. Will it land before the Cathay Pacific CPA 826 from Hong Kong?

Yes that is odd. It looks as if it was almost in a holding pattern for landing. Maybe they were having some issues with the a/c? Sometimes minor glitches can arise. Last year I recall seeing an AC 773 depart LHR and the landing gear not retract and after about 20 mins they got the gear up and continued with the flight.

Seems like after almost an hour and a half of the issue arising, they were able to get on their way!! Did you notice the fluctuations in the altitude!!

I see that sort of thing on flight radar all the time and also planes which appear to be SERIOUSLY off course. Not knowing much about these things, I have always assumed that half of them must be training flights or similar.

I was looking at this too on Flight Radar. It was bizzare indeed, how many circuit's did it make? It seemed to be at some weird altitudes over the Georgian Bay area. Could have been an issue they wanted to sort out before heading on their way. It's a long flight to Beijing, I wonder how much that ate into their fuel. But we all know the plane made it to PEK safely, otherwise we'd be hearing about it on the news...
