AC 777 in trouble
heres the link:
Air Canada plane makes emergency landing after reports of falling debris | Daily Brew - Yahoo! News Canada

hmmm...wonder if it was a bird strike to cause the engine to stop? but i dont understand the falling debris part:rolleyes:...but glad everybody is safe...

Re: AC 777 in trouble
The title of that article isn't really correct. The plane turned back because the Engine failed, then later everyone learned that it spat out debris that unfortunately went through someone's back windshield. C-FITW will definitely be in the AC Hangar for a while until they make some repairs (they will probably have to replace the parts that fell from the sky in a melted clump of metal).

Re: AC 777 in trouble
thanks for the regi on that plane...i might go have some sneak peak at the ac hanger and see whats up with the engine.....so i guess its not a bird strike then...because lately theres been a lot of canadian geese activity at yyz and the falcons have been working overtime;)

Re: AC 777 in trouble
Good to hear that the T7 was able to return safely to YYZ, and all is well with passengers and plane. Cheers! T7

Just watched CTV news about the incident. Luckily nobody on the ground got smacked with the falling metal engine parts.

Re: AC 777 in trouble
Just today because of the heat, I got really lazy and did not go right to the fence but stayed under the trees across the road....and took this photo from there. Little did I know it was an emergency until I read it on the net, and then found it on here  Runway 23 was shut down for a bit.

But no idea what made me take a video too :D. Sorry excuse the busy traffic on Airport Road :o

Re: AC 777 in trouble
It seems a blade probably failed and damaged the turbine on it's way out the back, not as bad as the QF A380 though !

Re: AC 777 in trouble
Hi 1:200Freak; you are right on about the heat today = 33c and probably a bit warmer at the tarmac! Talk about timing on your end being at YYZ Runway 23 when the AC T7 returned to the airport. Great pic and vid you recorded! Cheers! T7

According to CP24 the parts fell at a Petro Canada at Derry Rd/Kennedy Rd, which is right in the flight path of departing aircraft from Rwy 23.

Re: AC 777 in trouble
Ok that makes sense. I guess we need Hazel to put up signs around the airport "Beware of falling aircraft parts".

The have signs up on Derry Road about aircraft noise.
