Default US domestic widebody service?

Hi, i'm planing a trip to the US this year and would like to know if there are domestic routes that are served by B762, B763, B764 or even B772? (UA, DL, US, AA, CO, AC)?

Are there other widebodies flying domestic service like A310, A300, A330 or DC-10 (TS or maybe Omni with DC-10)?

Any help would be highly appreciated..

There are a few.

UA has widebodies (767 or 777) on ORD-DEN, DEN-IAD, LAX-IAD, SFO-ORD, IAD-ORD, DEN-ORD, DEN-SFO, LAX-DEN, SFO-IAD, SFO-IAH and other hub-hub or hub-focus city routes.

On CO (now UA), look for IAH-EWR (762,764)

On Delta, look for LAX-ATL (763 and 772), LAX-DTW (763), JFK-ATL (763), D*****L (772), SLC-ATL (763).

On AA, you'll find LAX-MIA (762 and 772) and JFK-MIA (762, 763), LAX-DFW (763), LAX-ORD (763), JFK-LAX (762), JFK-SFO (762, 763), BOS-LAX (763).

If you include flights to Hawaii, there are several more. and this is not a complete list; there are surely more routes.

Be careful though - sometimes only one flight a day is a 767/777, with the rest being 757s or whatever.

On Delta, you can also find 767's out of Atlanta to SFO & LAS. They also run an A330 to HNL.

Basically on high yield routes like some listed above, ATL-LAX you can get a 777-200LR sometimes.

I collected your info:

United:
767 or 777: ORD-DEN, DEN-IAD, LAX-IAD, SFO-ORD, IAD-ORD, DEN-ORD, DEN-SFO, LAX-DEN, SFO-IAD, SFO-IAH, ORD-DFW

United opb Continental: 762 or 764: IAH-EWR

Delta Airlines: LAX-ATL (763 and 772), LAX-DTW (763), JFK-ATL (763), D*****L (772), SLC-ATL (763), ATL-LAS (763), ATL-SFO (763) ATL-HNL (A330).

American Airlines: LAX-MIA (762 and 772) and JFK-MIA (762, 763), LAX-DFW (763), LAX-ORD (763), JFK-LAX (762), JFK-SFO (762, 763), BOS-LAX (763).

What about US Airways? Do they operate their 762/A330s on domestic routes? No Delta domestic 764 service? Any domestic UA 744 routes?

Thanks to all! I know the widebody connections in Europe better, i have no idea about the US, will be my first trip.. I plan to make one domestic trip, so the destination is not decided yet.. My trips last year here in Europe were Frankfurt-Istanbul on a Turkish Airlines A330, Frankfurt-Madrid on a LAN A340, Frankfurt-Geneva on a Kuwait Airways A300 and lately Frankfurt-Heathrow on a British Airways B767.. Fra is an awesome place for widebody action in Europe on exotic airlines and comes right behind the unbeatable LHR..

Looks like my chances are good to geet some great widebody flights in the US! A completed 2012 list might be interesting for other members as well...

Not that I know of, but unscheduled equipment substitutions are not unheard of. So there is a very small but non-zero chance you can get lucky. or, rather, unlucky because the UA 747 is absolutely miserable in economy.

keep in mind the list is not really as impressive as it looks - oftentimes there are several flights a day between the cities I listed, but only 1 is on a 777.

Is that still scheduled? I checked, and it looked it's now MD80s, all day long.

There's a US A332 from PHL-SJU, if you want to extend this to Puerto Rico.

Gosh, I don't know why anyone would want to fly widebody domestically, but to each his own. Personally, the more people on a plane, the crabbier I get, because an overwhelming majority of people flying are idiots and so unaware of their surroundings. But, I digress. I think the BEST way to fly widebody domestically is when it's an equipment substitution case and you have the same number of people that would have been on that 757 on that 747. Only happened once to me though. Mostly, I try to avoid anything larger than a 757 on domestic routes.

I remember when Eastern, Pan Am, PSA, United and American not only had wide body domestic, but wide body intra-state too!

American had DC-10 El Paso-Dallas DFW
Eastern L-1011 Orlando-Miami
Pan Am DC-10 Miami-Tampa
United 747 San Francisco-LAX and LAX-San Diego

PSA had L-1011 on the same runs as United's 747 (but not at the same time IIRC)
