I heard on the radio today a company is devolping a hypersonic aircraft called the A2 that may be able to travel at 4000mph ( mph) Europe-Australia in 5 hours , it may be another 25 years until you see it at your local airport but sounds cool, anybody else hear about this , 4000mph x 5 hours = 20000 miles , australia cant be that far away, must stop for fuel somewhere , i also heard that there may be aircraft in future who exit the atmosphere and wait on the world turning and then drop back in ./..

I'm not waiting that long to go 4K mph when I can just fire up my SR-72 and cruise the lower 48 going 1,500 mph. If you dont believe me then I will gladly show you picts.

One more reason not to trust everything you read until the real prototype has been rolled out:
London to Sydney 'in five hours' on new jet - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) "The plane, which at 143 metres long would be about twice the size of the biggest current jets, could fly non-stop for up to 20,000 kilometres." The hypersonic plane designed to reach Australia in under five hours | Business | The Guardian "Another advantage of the design is that while the 132 metre-long A2 is much bigger than conventional jets it would be lighter than a Boeing 747 and could land on current airport runways." Is it 143m or 132m long? Yes, it may be able to land on current airport runways but will it be able to use the current taxiways? |

i doubt anyone would want to fly in a windowless plane anyways. though if it comes down to it, we may not have a choice.

All the seats in the new hypersonic airliner will have toilet functions, for your convenience. The windows will be mini-projectors, portraying various characters from the Hanna-Barbera cartoons for your enjoyment.

Mirage Models may be developing a 1/400 scale model of the A2.
See it mentioned here: http://www.diecastaircraftforum.com/...iser-work.html |
